Bert Posted 31 December 2005 Author Posted 31 December 2005 A 49-year-old man was last night questioned by police after a 17-hour armed siege. The drama began at around 8.20pm on Thursday when a man barricaded himself inside a terraced house with his young daughter. Armed officers surrounded the property in Tudor Road, Leicester, for most of yesterday. It was thought the man "had access to a weapon", but it was not known what type. Just before 1pm, the girl, thought to be aged about four, walked out of the house and into the arms of waiting police officers. The man appeared shortly after and was immediately frisked, handcuffed and arrested. The road was sealed off throughout the siege and residents were told to stay indoors as officers tried to talk to the man. People attempting to get to work yesterday morning had to be escorted to their cars by armed officers. A force spokeswoman said: "Police have peacefully resolved an incident in Tudor Road, Leicester, after a man who had barricaded himself and his young daughter inside the property gave himself up to police officers. "The child was also released from the house safe and well. No-one was injured. "A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been taken for questioning to a police station in Leicestershire. "Police would like to thank people in the community for their co-operation and apologise for any inconvenience caused during the incident." Neighbours said they had seen a man hurling large objects, including planks of wood, out of upstairs and downstairs windows on Thursday night. The windows on both floors of the house were smashed. It is thought the house is owned by the man's former wife. Student Jade Lowe, 20, said: "A man was hurling things out of the top and bottom windows. We were all scared." She said she had seen the father out with his daughter. "He was always perfectly pleasant," she said. Jamie Dickson, 24, of Glenfield, was visiting a friend in Tudor Road on Thursday night. He said police stopped him from collecting his car until noon yesterday. He said: "I came out of my friend's house and was told not to go down the road." A 24-year-old mum of two, who lives in nearby Warren Street, said she heard windows being smashed the night before. She said: "I went to bed about 2.30am on Friday and could see the police hiding behind cars and spying through the window of the house." Tudor Road was cordoned off between Vaughan Street, including its junctions with Warren Street and Vernon Street. Source: http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/disp...tentPK=13758017

Chimp Posted 1 January 2006 Posted 1 January 2006 ...one crazy guy! did you know him bertfox?? Maybe it's just tearing him apart that he doesn't get the access to his daughter he deserves? Maybe he just snapped? Who knows? Just think it's wrong to jump to conclusions about things like this.
Bert Posted 1 January 2006 Author Posted 1 January 2006 Maybe it's just tearing him apart that he doesn't get the access to his daughter he deserves? Maybe he just snapped? Who knows? Just think it's wrong to jump to conclusions about things like this. Maybe, it's never really right to judge before we know the full story. But if the reason is him not getting access to his daughter that he thinks he deserves, maybe he doesn't deserve deserve it? but nobody knows.
