The People's Hero Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 I think that is correct. Maidstone deserves a mention. Not even a city. but population of well over 100,00 and no league club.
Thracian Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 Belfast I had wondered Bath but Belfast must surely be bigger.
The People's Hero Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 So what is the smallest town to have a team representing it in the English League?
Head Honcho Posted 24 February 2006 Author Posted 24 February 2006 Belfast Technically you could have Belfast because of it's Metropolitain area but generally most records state another city. Clue It's in Yorkshire!
Lemon Harpic Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 I think that is correct. Maidstone deserves a mention. Not even a city. but population of well over 100,00 and no league club. Dudley is a town. Wakefield is a city!
Head Honcho Posted 24 February 2006 Author Posted 24 February 2006 Dudley is a town. Wakefield is a city! Wakefield is Correct 319000 Dudley has a population of only 190000
Lemon Harpic Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 So what is the smallest town to have a team representing it in the English League? Irthlingborough (sp?), home of Rushden and Diamonds is pretty small. That would be my guess. They won't be in the league much longer, though.

Northants Fox Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 Irthlingborough (sp?), home of Rushden and Diamonds is pretty small. That would be my guess. They won't be in the league much longer, though. Ever been to Rushden mate (I mean the town itself)
Knighton Matt Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 Ever been to Rushden mate (I mean the town itself) I've been to Rushden as I work in Kettering and have to do stuff there occasionally. Whereabouts in Northampton do you live?
Northants Fox Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 I've been to Rushden as I work in Kettering and have to do stuff there occasionally. Whereabouts in Northampton do you live? Over on the West side of town on the outskirts of Duston, there's a Pub called the Rover on the corner of my Road, and on the other side of the Road is the Famous lighthouse of Northampton (The Express Lifts Tower for anyone not sure what i'm on about. And just down the Weedon road from me is the Saints Rugby ground.
Thracian Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 Ever been to Rushden mate (I mean the town itself) My oldest son lived in Rushden until a couple of year's ago and his sons still go to school in Wellingborough. Close ties to Northants all round.

Guest Posted 24 February 2006 Posted 24 February 2006 Correct, although I think Birmingham is about 10 times the size of Venice, so it is a bit unfair....
