holly Posted 4 March 2006 Posted 4 March 2006 it makes a change for a player who is leaving to show so much commitment, 2 great goals hope he keeps it up he didnt really wanna leave though, and he clearly loves the club and the fans thats why i think he is still so commited
Finnegan Posted 4 March 2006 Posted 4 March 2006 Don't think he's really been here long enough to "love" the club. But he is a proffesional and hats off to him to staying honoured to that until it's his time to leave.
davieG Posted 4 March 2006 Posted 4 March 2006 I doubt we'd have been able to match a four year contract and European football. This is what is going to happen to us while we are in the Championship, whatever the players may say we are just a stepping stone, cue Scimeca, Thatcher, Dickov et al. Joey was going nowhere when he signed for us, he's been able to shine in a poor team, put himself in the shop window and is now off.
Little Nicky Posted 5 March 2006 Posted 5 March 2006 You can't help but wonder if we were sat there with 55points in 6th place, would he have stayed, I reckon YES! Fair play though the lad was awesome against Hull though, I nearly wet myself My first win of the season! Wahey GET IN!
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 March 2006 Posted 5 March 2006 Where as he obviosuly had a cracking game yesterday I dont think hes been as consistent recently as he was before he signed for AZ, he played below average games during February/ Late Jan period. Hopefully he can have another stormer against Luton.

I don't think we would want to commit to having Joey as a our first choice central midfielder for 4 years either. He was brilliant in the second half yesterday and delivered a great pass for the Hume goal in the first. However, he has been pretty poor since he signed for AZ but I wouldn't question his commitment. He is a player that always gives his all, thats why the fans like him so much.

I think your very harsh on Gudjonsson. He can be frustrating at times but he's still scored 9 goals for us this season and set up probably as many as that if not more. If you can find me a player who will score that many goals from midfield and set as many up aswell for free then i'll be impressed. I have a feeling we'll miss him next season even with Wesolowski. Weso is the best midfielder i've seen in a long while at this club but will he score and make assists like Joey does? He might, but I think he's more suited to playing alongside someone who does that job.

He's been our most consistant performer so far this term, imo. Sorry to see him going.
