Sparky Posted 23 October 2004 Posted 23 October 2004 Gudjon Thordarson has mysteriously stalled on taking over as Grindavik coach amid speculation that he is considering a return to England. Sources in Iceland claim the former Stoke City and Barnsley boss has flown out of his homeland to discuss a managerial position in The Championship. With Leicester City parting company with Micky Adams this week, The Foxes' job would be an obvious possibility. Thordarson was expected to sign a contract with Grindavik at noon on Friday after assisting with coaching sessions at the club where his son Joey Gudjonsson plays. Leicester have Howard Wilkinson working in tandem with director of football Dave Bassett at the moment, but John Gregory has declared an interest in the post and the likes of Mike Newell and Gary McAllister have been mooted as candidates. If Thordarson is confirmed as a contender, there will be plenty of competition for the Walkers Stadium position. found this on sky sports news . just to add to speculation
Foxes_Trust Posted 23 October 2004 Posted 23 October 2004 He was at the game today as a guest of the Stoke contingent. We had a long conversation with him & he was busy selling his credentials to us. We have no information to confirm if he is a serious contender though.
Anish Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I really dont want a foreigner as our manager ! 28745 I know what you mean, but foreigners may bring a bit of possession football to the team and show them how to play football rather than play long ball. Plus, foreign managers won't be picking players based on their reputations (as they will not know what the likes of Blake and Dublin did in the past).
Hullfox Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I really dont want a foreigner as our manager ! 28745 Interesting viewpoint Ashov. Not saying you are wrong at all but would be interested to know why. Could turn into an interesting debate.
Scow Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I wouldn't have problem with a foreign manager - Whatever is best for Leicester City.
Tomassi Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 one thing for sure.. if thordarson was chosen then he'd be picking joey all the time.. ..and hey why do they have different surnames??

We played some good football in the first 30 minutes yesterday and that was with Harry and Howard in charge!

Jonbluefox9 Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 Agree completely, No need to get another manager in just yet, the team's style of play is becoming impressive. How I see it is Harry and Howard's first game in charge we lost our lead to an own goal, result draw. We then drew with Ipswich conceding a late own goal, result draw. Saturday, we didn't concede an own goal or in the second half at all although we still lost our lead but we are slowly improving and given a little time the style of play that's being used will improve. Next game, no own goal and no goal conceded first or second half and hopefully we'll continue to score. I think H and H will get their first victory at Ninian Park.
