Mutu Sacked!

It does serve him right, but it's never nice seeing anyone addicted to drugs, booze or gambling. Whether he's a multi millionaire or not, it's still not nice. I know he's foolish for what he's done and he knew the risks and dangers before he first took the drug, but still alot of normal people get caught up in drugs and it ruins them.

Even though I don't agree with drug taking, Mutu hasn't taken a performance enhancing drug even though he tried to claim it would help his pecker. He has taken a drug that is as widespread as Miss Stella Artois is these days and he needs to get help. He is a quality footballer and it's a shame it's come to this, but hopefully he's big enough and strong enough to kick his habit and return to football after his forthcoming ban.

Everyone deserves a second chance and Mutu still has alot to offer football and if we get promoted this season and Mutu becomes available i'd take a chance on him, he's an exceptional football when he's focused.

Get well soon Mutu.

Serves him right in my opinion. Chelsea sacked Bosnich after his cocaine taking, so it would have been unfair if they kept Mutu. I hope Mutu doesn't make a fortune out of his compensation package, cos that will just lead him astray even further.

He needs to get help - if he doesn't he will look back in 15 years and realise that he has wasted his talents.

Well he wasnt doing much at Chelsea anyway....think he had 2 good games for them and guess who they were both against....yup us! I'd like to see them getting rid of all this type of behaviour in football, its not example to set to young kids

Feel for the lad, he wasnt taking performance enhancing drugs, i know its illegal but so is drink driving, and people like merson and gazza didnt get sacked for that, i feel for the chap, he was trying to improve his sex life.

I love the moral high ground people have taken on this one!

People take drugs because they are lonely and bored, he should be punished to set an example and as a detterent to him to make sure he does not do it again. Chelsea should then pay for a proper rehabilitation programme and get the lads head sorted out.

The FA should ban him for a small period of time. Perhaps 3 months, the drugs are not performance enhancing and while he si breaking the law they dont ban players for other offences.

I find it funny that some footballers have been chareged with ABH, drink driving, assult and other offences and don't get a ban but somebody who commits a crime that harms himself and no one else gets the ban.

Drug taking is for less immoral than drink driving or ABH!

Totally agree Tricky. I think some fans have selective opinions on things that go on, I think they would be in for a shock if they knew all the stuff that goes on. Footballers are human beings and there is always going to be certain things that happen irrespective of a person being gifted at football. He has got himself in to drugs and it's awful for the lad. He needs help, not people giving their two bit opinion that a 4 year old could come up with.

Drugs are illegal and I don't condone them, but as Tricky said players get charged with ABH and other offences and don't get tarnished with the same brush as players that have got addicted to drugs. It's the same as alcoholics really.

As someone who would like to control the amount of drugs taken in the UK, I would make all drugs legal under certain circumstances. However even if that was the case I would still have expected Mutu to be sacked.

Surely it is up to every professional sportsman/woman to present themselves for competition in the best possible physical condition. His behaviour is unforgivable. Even worse is the number of professional footballers who smoke.^_^ <_<

The thing is, all players are signed up to a code of conduct which states they do not take drugs, whether for recreational use, or performance enhancing.

At the end of the day he has broken the rules, and should be punished accordingly.

Let Mutu off, and see what happens.

This has nothing to do with my own thoughts on the subject, just a statement of fact, before anyone has a go.

Agreed. Let us be clear here. You do not use cocaine to improve sexual performance, cialis is the tip here ;) , moreover I cannot believe you would risk 60 grand a week unless you had a problem. That is (the) cocaine thinking for you. :( <_<

Anybody in the world can get addicted to drugs. Mutu wouldn't of set out to get addicted to cocaine, he wouldn't of even set out to take it regularly. Now I don't know the guy, he might be a complete arsehole but what i'm saying is he isn't the scum of the earth just because he's got addicted to coke. I know someone who has taken a hell of alot of coke in their time and it's not good to see, it's horrible. Now that doesn't make the person a complete tosser, they have made a huge mistake in getting involved in the drug but once it gets hold of you there isn't alot you can do other than get serious help.

He hasn't taken performance enhancing drugs so he's no a cheat as they call it. He is foolish for taking cocaine as alot of famous people do it because they think it's fashionable, well it isn't. Mutu does need to be punished, but he can't be made an example of as he needs help. There are plenty of footballrs who take it and it needs stamping out, starting now I hope.

the point being he has wasted his lif. IMO (sorry if you have used coke) but its a get out clause and Mutu had nothing to get out of apart from Chelsea. He has ruined his life, career and even his family must be dissappointed

I disagree - I know that I would never take any illegal substance, let alone get addicted to it. And I'm sure that is the case for many people out there. Saying that anybody could get addicted to dugs is blase and undermines the seriousness of his actions. Yes it is not performance enhancing and he therefore cannot be accused of being a cheat, but cocaine is still illegal.

And as for whoever said Chelsea should send him for rehabilitation and support him instead of sacking him - why?? Chelsea and Mutu agreed a contract that prohibited Mutu from taking drugs. Mutu thus breached the contract and so Chelsea have the right to terminate his employment. Chelsea have no duty of care to ensure Mutu's healthiness after he took drugs. Think about everybody else in 'real' work - if they got caught with drugs at work their employer would sack them, and not send them to rehabilitation. Mutu deserves no better than you or I in the workplace. Besides, Mutu can afford his own treatment.
