City Fan Posted 9 May 2006 Share Posted 9 May 2006 It's just like when Peter Taylor was about to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen from Bolton but then signed Ade Akinbiyi instead!

Ric Flair Posted 10 May 2006 Author Share Posted 10 May 2006 I was'nt aware we got Gilbert instead of Boyd Boyd was made available for £100k and we'd been linked with him alot during the summer. Next thing Gilbert turns up for £200k and Levein says he's now spent all his money and can't buy a striker. Boyd stays at Kilmarnock after turning down Cardiff (I am led to believe he would have come to us though because of the Scottish connection). He goes on to score 37 goals in 40 matches and is probably worth about £5 million now if a team were to try and sign him.

There was also rumours of him going Sheffield Wednesday but It all fizzled out. What a bargain Boyd was
Darth Fox Posted 11 May 2006 Share Posted 11 May 2006 Has just scored 2 goals on debut for a severely weakened Scotland side vs Bulgaria over in Japan. I had my doubts but he seems a good player.

Ric Flair Posted 12 May 2006 Author Share Posted 12 May 2006 they reckon riordan isnt too far behind either Possibly, but Boyd is a goal machine he really is. Old fashioned centre forward, very good.
Dr The Singh Posted 12 May 2006 Share Posted 12 May 2006 Possibly, but Boyd is a goal machine he really is. Old fashioned centre forward, very good. Was Hammond around city at the time, maybe he thought Hammond was better then Boyd and as we know signed him, even though he was on loan until the end of the year. Everytime someone mentions Levien or Hammond it puts my mood right down!!!
