Manager Craig Levein plans to hold talks with Kelly over the weekend about the vacant assistant managers job at the club. Levein has already brought in coaches Peter Houston and Kenny Black as he looks to build his own backroom team at the Walkers Stadium. Kelly (39) is a former Leicester City player, making five appearances between 1982-84. A back injury cut short his playing career in 1990, but spells as an Academy coach at Wolves, Watford and now Blackburn have helped him to gain a strong reputation within the game. OS Anyone know much about the chap?

Cobbo Posted 5 November 2004 Author Posted 5 November 2004 Blackburn Rovers reserve team coach Rob Kelly is rumoured to be on the verge of joining Leicester as number two to Craig Levein.Levein took over at The Foxes this week, and it appears he wants Kelly to come in as his right-hand man. The young coach made his name at Blackburn's academy - leading the club's youth team to two cup finals. He stepped up to senior football in the summer to his current job with the reserves. Leicester are rumoured to have made an official approach on Thursday, and it is not believed that Rovers will stand in Kelly's way. Leicester lost manager Micky Adams after a poor start to the season, with the popular figure deciding to resign his post. Sky Sports Could work well in bringing the youngsters through!

He was managing a youth squad from Blackburn. Really nice guy and was clearly respected by his players. Also remeber him playing for City, wasn't a regular but was quite classy but a bit lightweight. He scored a cracking goal against Man U when he beat Chris Turner (l think) from 20 yards, was right behind the goal in the old kop when it went in...those were the days!

Kelly (39) arrives at Leicester from Blackburn Rovers where he was assistant reserve team manager under Mark Hughes. He will take a place in the Leicester dug out for the first time when the Foxes take on Coventry City tonight. Kelly made 27 appearances between 1982-84 for City. A back injury cut short his playing career in 1990, but spells as an Academy coach at Wolves, Watford and Blackburn have helped him to gain a strong reputation within the game.
