I think you were trying to say, 'why don't we try and get Dean Richards on loan from Spurs, apparently Ipswich are after him. Personally I think he would come to us instead'. I would rather us give Stearman a chance instead of signing another has been.
Steven Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 Hmmm, Dabizas or Richards........ 34559[/snapback] At this stage of their respective careers, neither quickens the pulse do they. <_<

Scow Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 Dabizas is not a patch on Richards. Richards aint that great himself, so that tells you something.
Ash Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 Nah i would prefer to give young Stearman the chance
Anish Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 We have enough defenders already - although saying that Keown, Dabizas (most likely) and Elliott will be leaving at the end of the season. We need some more cover even with Stearman here, and Richards was quality when he was at Wolves and Soton. He could rejuvenate his career here like Dickov and Thatcher did.
Hoof Fox Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 We have Keown, Heath, Elliott, Stearman and Dabizas already on the books, why the hell do we need another centre half on the books, surely the above are good enough for the championship. What we do need is a keeper, striker and possibly a right winger.

If there are any funds available now, why waste it on another centre half when we have too many of them as it is? We are desperate for another right winger or a striker.
King Kyle lcfc Posted 11 November 2004 Posted 11 November 2004 i think on current form our right wing is apple enough e.g Gillespie and Morris

Cobbo Posted 11 November 2004 Posted 11 November 2004 I dunno about Morris on the right, decent to come on as a sub but he's left footed so won't be able to get many decent balls in from the byline. But if he can cut inside and bang a few goals in, it's all good.
Scow Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 We definitely need cover for right wing - Levein won't play Scowcroft there, he wants pace and width down the flanks... Morris is useful to play on the right as a sub, but would be much more effective on the left.

That's good news, because whenever i've seen Morris play over the years he's been dangerous. Only player we have with lightening pace.
Dunc Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 I'd be more worried about a recognised Number 8 converting to centre half. Not only would it be a different sport we'd have to pay Biarritz for him as well and we have no money. Plus he's even older than Keown so all this youth talk from Levien is a load of rubbish? He's not the ideal replacement for me.
City Fan Posted 14 November 2004 Posted 14 November 2004 Maybe we shouldn't get him....... "Tottenham defender Dean Richards has undergone two brain scans amid fears that he might be suffering from a tumour. The 30-year-old is set to learn the results of his second scan on Wednesday. He told the News of the World: "The brain scan seems to show an abnormality. This is the biggest situation I have ever faced in my life and I certainly know how serious this could be for me." The club's former record signing, who cost £8.1m when he joined from Southampton in September 2001, has admitted the results could put his career in doubt, conceding there is a "possibility it could all be over". "That would be a massive blow but my health must come first," he said. Richards has been a long-term absentee from the Tottenham first team, with what was initially thought to be ear-related trouble, but an initial scan revealed the potential brain problem. "I'm sure that something as serious as this would affect anyone," he added. "I have just got to get on with things, hope for the best and remain positive. That's all I can do. Remember there's not been any confirmation of anything. "And I'm very optimistic the specialists will give me a clean bill of health so I'm simply focusing on playing football and spending time with my family." Centre-back Richards began his playing career with Bradford before moving on to Wolves and then Southampton. He was rated as one of England's brightest young defenders when at Wolves and has gone on to become established in the top-flight. Despite the possible brain problem, Richards has continued to train and keep up his fitness levels. Sporting director Frank Arnesen has expressed his sympathy for Richards' difficult situation. "I can imagine how frustrating it is not to be able to play but Dean's health is paramount," said Arnesen. The former England Under-21 international has yet to be involved in the first team at Tottenham this season because of his health problem. "I'm praying Wednesday's result will confirm that everything is all right and I can get on with my life, get on with my career," he added." Get well soon Deano....
