HMFC Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 Undefeated so far with the same squad of players Adams had. You must be very pleased. I realise it's only been a little over a week and still the honeymoon period but I presume that you'll all be optimistic about the rest of the season. Has there been a drastic improvement in LCFCs performances? If so is it solely down to the arrival of a new manager and the players trying to impress? I see he has changed some of the personnel in the starting lineup and that the likes of Gillespie seem to have upped their performance. Has Levein changed formations/tactics?

He has taken no prisoners in terms of selecting players and he has dropped a few of our wasters like Dublin, Makin and Blake. He has also picked Canero and Gillespie and they have responded brilliantly to him and are playing well, which just shows how the players are reacting to him. Levein talks the talk and appears to be walking the walk aswell, which can only mean a successful era for Leicester. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Has Levein changed formations/tactics? 35180[/snapback] Early days, but well pleased so far, as someone who was keen for him to join I am not surprised by this. The two biggest differences are that, contrary to predictions from some quarters the ball is played on the deck almost to the exclusion of hoofing, the complete opposite to before. The most telling difference however is we now get 100% effort from all those picked, yes including Gillespie. This is like a breath of fresh air and even if we wern't winning or picking up points would be a welcome relief from the dire, effortless, mid numbing performances we were getting from MAs team. Add to that the perceived honesty and openess of CL and it's now become a pleasure again to support LCFC. Best of Luck to yourselves and I hope JR gives you at least the same level of success you had with CL.
Ric Flair Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 The football we are playing under Levein is a joy to watch I wouldn't call it champagne football but it's definately some of the best football i've seen Leicester play before. It just shows that managers don't always play the same football at every club they go to, we appear to have more attack minded players than Hearts so it's inevitable that our best style of play will be attacking, i'm loving it.
HMFC Posted 12 November 2004 Author Posted 12 November 2004 It makes you wonder at times. A new manager comes in and the effort seems to double in order to impress the new guy. Happens all the time in football. If the likes of Canero & Gillespie are now putting in 100% effort, how can they justify their wages prior to Levein taking over? It's always easier to put in the effort and make yourself available for the ball in a successful team and LCFC have yet to taste defeat under Craig. Tough test this week against Sunderland.
Guest Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 The fact that both Canero and Morris are suddenly fit says something. I know it will take some time to get out of the 'Adams mentality', but CL has done wonders in such a short space of time. I didn't even worry about us condeeding late goals on Monday night! How weird is that!!
HMFC Posted 12 November 2004 Author Posted 12 November 2004 Where do you expect LCFC to finish this season? Bearing in mind their start to the season I think that a realistic goal has to be the play-offs although it's always possible to have a good run and end up in an automatic promotion spot.

I would hope that the impact CL makes will be enough to get us into the playoffs after that we know from experience it becomes a bit of a lottery. Can't see us getting automatic promotion as that would require at least one miracle and several disasters by other teams. But if anyone can get us up this year I'm convinvced CL has it in him to do it.
Guest Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 I'm optimistic now, and think the play-off's are a plausible target. Having said that, I don't think I could go through that again!
Cobbo Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 Craig seems to be doing a great job at the moment, simply motivating the players for a start and we're actually playing some good stuff! I'd have to say that I think we can finish in the play offs now too! Where we will lose to a dubious penalty at Cardiff!
Benji Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 cheers cobbo you spoil sport minds well sell my season ticket now
Anish Posted 12 November 2004 Posted 12 November 2004 Levein has had an excellent start but the real tests begin here. The next 2 games will show us how far we can go this season - I would like 4 points but the minimum I would settle for is 3. However, the mood in the camp seems to have improved and I can really see us making a strong push for the playoffs - which would be a tremendous achievement in itself.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 13 November 2004 Posted 13 November 2004 His backroom team have also played a huge part so far. I think they're in some ways more important then Levein himself. Black and Houston in particular as Kelly has only just arrived.
dhermon Posted 13 November 2004 Posted 13 November 2004 yes i know football not the same as cricket not even close to club cricket, but i can tell you since our new coach came in the whole club is keen to get to training god damn i live in australia and i could see MA was a joke in the end sadly the writting was on the wall as they say.. the feeling i have got since the change is that even i want to pull on a pair of boots this guy has my heart in my mouth waiting for his next move the way he speaks the way he walks everthing has he wanting more....... come down under mate coach our cricket club we need YOU!!!!!!! btw LOVE THE NEW CAPTAIN AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE,
HMFC Posted 13 November 2004 Author Posted 13 November 2004 As I stated above I think the play-offs are a realistic aim but it's crucial that home games are won and today is a good time to start. Craig will want to make Walker Stadium a fortress and build from there. I think today will be a good test. Good luck.

We need to improve otherwise we will continue with mid table mediocrity.
