Nationwider Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 I'm off to Budapest tomorrow on a stag weekend. Has anyone been before - and if so, have you got any tips on where to go etc? We're fairly organised, but any last minute info (price of a pint, price of a stripper, price of a labrador etc...) would be welcome! Ferenc Puskas, everyone.
Jay Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 be VERY carefull especially if you are going to be wearing England shirts etc!!

A few of my mates went there recently, i couldn't go as i had work commitments, but they reckon that it was a fantastic weekend and the locals were really friendly, so much so they're going back in November and i shall be going with.
Head Honcho Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Went there last year it's an excellent place. Most of these bars are full of super models type birds but they are near other bars that are a lot less pretentious. http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/budapes...an-budapest.htm Other good areas are Liszt Ferenc Tér Raday Utca and Kalvin Ter Mammut shopping centre(loads of bars on the rooftop) Moskva Ter Vaci Utca Great bars along the Danube embankment too. There are a few boats that have great club nights this is one of the best http://www.a38.hu/ Some of the baths out there all have parties in the summer but beware!! They are a bit hedonistic, half naked birds and all that
Cobbo Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 I have not been there but am willing to go should you wish to pay for me.

If you need a place to stay you can't get better or cheaper then this place http://www.kalvinapartments.com/ ........but beware it is very cold in November although it shouldn't spoil your enjoyment of the place.

You can get a pint for less than a couple of quid and use the markets or shopping centres for eating the food is a lot better then the crap the food courts at our shopping centres churn out.,

Nationwider Posted 15 June 2006 Author Posted 15 June 2006 Thanks for the lowdown Allen and everyone else. We're not going all Ingerlunded up - just seven of us. It will probably get very undignified, nevertheless. Cobbo can come too if he can fit into an overhead locker and hold my pint when I go to the bog.

Yeh no problem if you do fancy doing a bit of culture the Parliament building does free tours on a Sunday. If that's a bit too much for ya and you want to get away from the City for a few hours take the Chain Railway from Moskva Ter up into the Buda Hills takes about 20 minutes, there are a few bars up there so you could use that as an excuse but it is about 30 degrees in Budapest just now and it will give you some respite from the heat. You shouldn't need to worry about strippers if you've got enough front the local birds will suffice Have a good un

I think high culture will be a little down the agenda this weekend, but I'm using it as a reccy for a future holi-break with the present Mrs NW. Holi-break © NW 2006

I still get funny looks when I say I was on the beach in Hungary. Don't know what it's like now but during the late 80's early 90's it was just as good as Ibiza in Siofok loads of birds with next to nothing on. Only difference was the beer was a 1/4 of the price you pay in Ibiza

Only difference was the beer was a 1/4 of the price you pay in Ibiza We found it was good value in Budapest this weekend. Between £1.00-1.50 a pint for the local brews, or Heineken. Because of the World Cup, there were very few stag parties around (we didn't see any on either evening) which was good too. There is no such thing as a fat bird in Budapest either. They were slim as, and hot to trot. Not that I was looking or owt. As I said in a different thread, there is nothing better for lifting a hangover than a trip to one of the thermal spas and a good pummelling from one of the locals (massage, not bar brawl). I'll definitely be going back to Hungary in the future.
