dandannieldanok Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 After his rather disasterous world cup, contrasting with the excellent performances of Ballack, Essien, Makelele, plus the glimpses of brilliance from Joe Cole and Robben, do any of you think Lampard will still be penned in on Mourinhos team sheet. Despite Mourinho saying that Ballack was brought in to play alongside Lampard, I believe if Frank doesn't buck up his ideas then Essien will easily force him out of the starting XI.

In the Chelsea team he has 10 other good players on the pitch with him and a brilliant manager, something lacking when he plays for England!

Loake Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 I never thought his placed was garenteed, he was on form though so why would he be dropped? he will be given his chance for chelsea but if he fails to perform he will not play. I think he will have to fight for his place more now ballack has arrived.

Ultra Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 explain I'd guess it was to do with his interview after the Portugal game, when he whinged about people having a dig at him, and didn't admit any responsibility either for missing the penalty or for his part in our constant under-achievement. There seemed a touch of ego about him. Mourinho wouldn't stand for this at Stamford Bridge and McClaren shouldn't either!
