lookwhaticando Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Not sure I've tried Italian merlot. I've certainly tried Australian, Chilean and some of the Eastern European stuff. Italian worth trying? I've had some passable Bulgarian wines. Also some pi ss poor ones. Half the fun is experimentation though. I've had bottles of wine which are 'worth' around £50 before and thought not much to them. Sadly I can't say I've had such lavishly expensive wine. Shame really. Maybe one day though Price doesn't always correlate to quality/taste, sadly. If only it were that easy. Still, can't complain. I get to try quite a lot of wine from all over the place (tho I'm against buying Argentine wine)

I get to try quite a lot of wine from all over the place (tho I'm against buying Argentine wine) I haven't drunk a lot of it myself but I did have a very good friend who was a wine buff. A master of wine in fact. He was a wine buyer for some fairly major companies. Sadly he succombed to cancer last year. Taught me a little about wine and the most important thing he taught me was that if you enjoy it - enjoy it. That is afterall the point. He'd only have been 28 now. I also have to buy lunches/get bought lunches on a fairly regular basis so am often subjecting others to or being subjected to various wines of differing style and quality. As for Argentine wine, can't say I know too much about it.

cisono Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 ' date='Aug 10 2006, 11:44 PM' post='370577']I just don't know Hmm does Alex know?
Alexikokopops Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Hmm does Alex know? At the moment signs point to no, because Alex has little money. But I'm gonna stop refering to myself in the third person now. At the moment to attend I have to drive to my parents house near Leicester from Lincoln, and pay for a ticket, and all that jazz. My aim for this summer is to pay off my overdraft, so I'm hoping there might be a Switch mk II sometime later in the season when I'm at Uni practically in Coventry, making it cheaper to travel, and my funds have been boosted by that beaut. of a Student Loan I have coming my way. But I do dearly want to duet with the Hero of the People, a little bit of Elton never goes amiss.

I shouldn't worry too much - he is absolutely lovely but spreads himself around loads - maybe you could grab him on a quieter night when there are less people around!
