Burnsy Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 Whilst reading up about Kisnorbo i noticed he's got a clause in his contract (see below) so looks like we may miss him for a few games if hes playing well He was linked with moves to Birmingham City, Everton and Wigan Athletic at the end of his first season in English football (the 2005/06 season) but has decided to extend his stay with Leicester by signing a new longer contact which also includes a very rare clause which allows him to be released for every Australian national team game if he is required
Jay Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 Whilst reading up about Kisnorbo i noticed he's got a clause in his contract (see below) so looks like we may miss him for a few games if hes playing well fair enough I am sure if a club stoped some England players turning up for matches I am sure we would all be annoyed!! imo playing for your country is one of the highest compliment you can get
Jimmy Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 theres no need for a clause, its a FIFA rule that he has to be released (including friendlies) it makes absolutely no difference
dandannieldanok Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 I don't care as long that clause is in a LCFC contract.
placidcasual Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 theres no need for a clause, its a FIFA rule that he has to be released (including friendlies) it makes absolutely no difference No. Players only have to be released on "FIFA dates" If Australia schedule a friendly outside of those dates we would not usually have to release the player.
The Stig Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 Did wigan everton ect actually show an inetrest or was it just a rumour, if they did its bloody good he decided to stay with us
Ultra Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been out of the Aussie squad for the last two years, after some disciplinary problems?
lookwhaticando Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 Obviously, if he does get called up we'll be missing a vital player from our defense. But, if having that clause keeps him happy and keeps him here, then I'm not overly bothered. As regardin FIFA matches and all that... players are released for FIFA matches such as qualifiers for regional/international tournaments usually occur during 'international breaks' - when we have nothing to do for almost two weeks between league matches. So releasing a player then isn't an issue. That's the reason for the clause. If Kisnorbo is going to get himself a place in the Aussie squad, he's got to feature in some friendlies at least. What's important is, he signed a new contract with us. We've done enough to keep him, so he'll be less tempted to leave. That's got to be a good thing.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 26 July 2006 Posted 26 July 2006 Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been out of the Aussie squad for the last two years, after some disciplinary problems? I think he was all set for being called up during our bad spell last season but decided to stay with us to help us out. Not 100% sure but some people say that could've worked against him when it came to World Cup squad selection.

dikenio Posted 27 July 2006 Posted 27 July 2006 im sure austrailias inernational breaks are different to european teams international dates.
Ric Flair Posted 27 July 2006 Posted 27 July 2006 im sure austrailias inernational breaks are different to european teams international dates. Correct, well some dates are the same but they play alot more qualifiers and friendlies than European teams.
OzFox311 Posted 6 September 2006 Posted 6 September 2006 Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been out of the Aussie squad for the last two years, after some disciplinary problems? Nope, he was out of the squad for not giving himself to our then Frank Farina led Olyroos Squad for Athens in 2004... he has been out of the wilderness since then, but since then us Aussies have seen Farina depart, a whole shake up of Football in Australia, Guus arrive, we get to the World Cup, we get to the final 16 of the world cup, Guus leaves, Arnold arrives, we qualify for the Asian Cup. See so much water under a bridge since 2004 it ain't funny, and Paddy playing tonight is proof that he is in the future Socceroos plans if he can cement a spot, as Arnold sees him as potenial...
Thracian Posted 6 September 2006 Posted 6 September 2006 Whilst reading up about Kisnorbo i noticed he's got a clause in his contract (see below) so looks like we may miss him for a few games if hes playing well I can't imagine anything worse for our club than losing Kisnorbo if we're either competing for a top six spot or battling relegation because we've no one who can seriously replace him from what I've seen.
golden gordon Posted 6 September 2006 Posted 6 September 2006 i think only english players playing for english clubs should automatically be required to be available for country and the same for other countries ie an english player in italy would not automatically be made available and neither an italian player in an english club, this should be a negotiated agreement pre contract
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 September 2006 Posted 6 September 2006 I can't imagine anything worse for our club than losing Kisnorbo if we're either competing for a top six spot or battling relegation because we've no one who can seriously replace him from what I've seen. Good thing we'll be twelfth all season then. Seriously though, if we're going to have half-decent players then they're going to get called up for internationals. Good luck to him and it's down to the club to sort out what happens when he does get called up. Dare I say part of the reason for McAuley's signing was the possibility of Kisnorbo being called up for internationals? Whatever you say about McAuley's ability. Personally I think Kenton and McCarthy at centre-back and Stearman at right-back is a more than adequate backup plan with McAuley on the bench.

That's what I thought anyway

That's what I thought anyway That was surely part of it. I think I recall this turning down incident to have occured around the time he moved to the back... could have been just before, though...
