billabob Posted 30 July 2006 Posted 30 July 2006 Being an insomniac is by far the worst thing ever! You never feel like you'v slept a lot and now im so bad i actully survive on less than 3 hours sleep a day, and thats on a good day! And also hardly anyone is online to argue what you've just put! i want sleeeeeeeeeeeep! Anyone else got it, or any remidies, otherthen the knock urself without beer/basebat ball suggestions!
MONreborn Posted 30 July 2006 Posted 30 July 2006 I haven't got that exact thing, but sometimes go through phases where I cannot get to sleep for two or even three days. The thing that worked for me was having a hot shower (Obviously not good in this weather) before I go sleep. Also drinking hot milk?
lookwhaticando Posted 30 July 2006 Posted 30 July 2006 Sounds rough. I feel for you. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping, and to be honest I don't know what works. I used to be completely incapable of sleeping past 7am - didn't matter when I went to bed, I was up at 7, without the aid of an alarm or anything. Lemme tell you, that's a whole new kind of annoying. The only thing I can think of that works for me as far as sleeping goes - cold. If I'm sleeping in a cold room I usually sleep better/longer (I sleep with my window partly open in the winter here, even when it's as cold as -30 outside). Obviously you need a good way of controlling the climate (air conditioning or a good fan) in your room, otherwise it doesn't work. Have you considered some sort of sleeping pill type things? Perhaps a trip to the GP - see what he/she thinks... sometimes doctor's have opinions you know (it might even be a useful one!)
lookwhaticando Posted 30 July 2006 Posted 30 July 2006 Don't suppose this'll help at all - but it's worth a look. Just a thought. You're probably aware of most suggestions, though.
billabob Posted 31 July 2006 Author Posted 31 July 2006 Well last night i was still awake to see dawn start breaking, although with cloud cover night was turning into day i could tell, hopefully im not in for another night of lying in bed being hot and borrrrrrred!
Katy Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 It'a annoying and depressing and clouds your judgement and mood. Ive been suffering from it the past week and have it in fits and starts. Trying to clear your mind is a apparently a good remedy and hot milk etc but it never seems to work for me Im feeling for ya!
The People's Hero Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 Brandy does the job for me. Probably not healthy to develop a dependance though. A few friends of mine rely on certain narco.. ahem.. herbal remedies to help them sleep... and now can't sleep well without it. Swashbucklers.

Stick with reading old threads on FT, that'll sort you out ~ especially the 'First Of' series
Ric Flair Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 Just tell yourself that whatevers on your mind will be sorted out after a good nights sleep.
Dellyjo Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 A few drops of Lavender sprinkled on your pillow should do the trick
