Anish Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 To be honest I'm hardly surprised by this news. I sent Ric Flair a PM a week or so ago saying how I wasn't very confident that the takeover would go through bearing in mind the delays. Most fans here (and calling Radio Leicester etc) have jumped to the hasty conclusion that he's taking over imminently and that there'd be no problems. People were getting carried away and counting their chickens before they hatched. I'm not saying anything (and haven't posted in any of the MM threads) until or if the deal goes through, but I'm not banking on it.
Fleckney Fox Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 how did so many people email him when nobody has his address?
newms Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 so money first club second. However Ken Bates took over at leeds with a proven track record and more money than the previous regime but look whats happening to them. mandaric might not necessarily be a messiah anyway
coale39 Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 I know hes not the messiah but he would be better then the current set up IMO.
JoeyB Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 so how are we ment to email him if no 1 has his address lets make one up [email protected]
coale39 Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 i just thought someone must have it as loads of people emailed him when Mandaric was first linked.
leeleic Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Well, it looks to me like its bad news. Surely if MM was still interested he'd have been there 2d. If the radio is anything to go by, its over.
Mort Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 so money first club second. Sounds like it ! I really, really dont understand, they never thought they'd get their money back, they never will get anything back if they didnt consent to a take-over by MM and now thier objecting to the deal on basis that they wont get all their cash back which they put it... dont they understand They will never get all their money back, but they do have a chance at assuring the long term future of the club and getting some of their initial investment back... anyone want to lobb some bricks at the directors box at the Cardiff game?

A lot os assumptions in there, ok the rumours don't make for good listening but they are only rumours, given that there's no way you can say it's just down to the money, we frankly don't know. It's just possible that these supposedly selfish shareholders could actually be preventing something horrible happening as part of MM's purchasing plans. For example - ( just me running off some thoughts) Groundsharing - ok acceptable to some Selling the ground to the Tigers or some other third party and us becoming tenents Changing the name of the club to Leicester USA or some such shit Selling Belvoir Drive

This is true, but no Milan at the game, still no word on any bid comming through and all the talk seeming to point the blame at the shareholders is very troubling... and is going to make a lot of people angry, sadly City fans dont seem to have noticed the good job the Derby supporters did in ditching their board, getting control of their club and now winding up as strong contenders for promotion the season after they flirted with relegation

Their previous board was under serious police investigation with massive debts. They were extremely fortunate that there was someone around ready to take all that on without which any uprising would have been futile.
Swedging Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 This is true, but no Milan at the game, still no word on any bid comming through and all the talk seeming to point the blame at the shareholders is very troubling... Your talk mainly. Unless he actually puts in a bid to test the shareholders, it's a little unfair to blame them. After all, a more sceptical point of view would be to suggest that he hasn't sorted out the sale of Portsmouth. He certainly hadn't sold it 2 months after he said he had.
Brummie-FOX Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 I really think that there would be some clarification in tomorrow's papers. Whether it will be news we want to here, i'm not too sure.
gosfox Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Perhaps we should not be so quick to condemn the Board/shareholders if this deal does fall through, untill the facts are known..... If MM is trying to get the club for as little layout as possible, then it doesn't auger well for the prospect of significant team investment..... It would be very easy for him to walk away blaming the Board/Shareholders for any breakdown and he would be perceived to be the innocent party by the majority of the supporters
JoeyB Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 leicester dont own the walkers i think they dont anyway
lookwhaticando Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 I doubt very much the Derby fans had any significant influence on that. Their previous board was under serious police investigation with massive debts. They were extremely fortunate that there was someone around ready to take all that on without which any uprising would have been futile. Protesting about the board and chairman hasn't done Newcastle fans much good either in recent years. Fan power doesn't exist at such a level. To achieve such a coup would need a strong trust. We don't have one with that kind of presence and power - they don't have the voting weight, they don't have a seat on the board. So, we have two options: a) give the Foxes Trust all our money and have something of a say b) suck it up and enjoy the ride.
Mort Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Your talk mainly. Partly true, maybe... but i'd rather travel negativley and arrive positivley than count any chickens before their hatched, seems far too many have assumed this MM takeover was a done deal, i's worried me for a while that some folks have been tempting fate with the perception that the deal is "sorted".
Chandler Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 may have Where did I say that MM was an asset stripper? I said he was picking up the club for a song (a 'blowback' opportunity resulting from administration). LCFC has few assets to strip. But it can offer a massive return on investment if it makes it to The Premiership. Normally you have to pay through the nose for that type of opportunity. That's why the deal is going to go through (but don't be surprised if a few convenient accounting quibbles allow MM to beat the 48ers down further). Note to Foxes Trust - For LCFC's 'existing reserves' read 'overdraft.' Aherm! What did I tell you????
Babylon Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Aherm! What did I tell you???? My hero... about 20 people on here said after due diligence he would lower his offer. That's business.
jumbo mills Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 wtf why milan why? bet we see him at wolves in a few months
Babylon Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 wtf why milan why? bet we see him at wolves in a few months No chance, they want cash and not loans.
C-man Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Can someone clarify exactly what was said on the radio? I haven't heard anything on it, but unless the radio have any proof, i don't think we should get too upset just yet.
Joe. Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Argh! Why can't it just be finalised!!!!!! Put us all out of our misery please!
Mort Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Can someone clarify exactly what was said on the radio? I haven't heard anything on it, but unless the radio have any proof, i don't think we should get too upset just yet. I think Barber said somthing like talks where tricky at the moment and an impass might have been reached nothing more than that, but things have slowed down a lot (!) since the books where opened up and talk of the bid collapsing would fit in with the recent trend of events... then again the talk of the bid collapsing could be breakmanship by either the shareholders or MM (indeed that could make a fair bit of sense).
ibbosuk Posted 16 December 2006 Posted 16 December 2006 Aherm! What did I tell you???? Yes I am still confident that the deal will go through eventually, but not in time for the January transfer window, so we might see a 1 million transfer out and a couple of players in for say £200,000. Thats how I am thinking it will go in the short term.
