lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Well I've been caught with my trousers down! OK then, I can spin this around. I reckon we'll stuff Martin's Villa 6-1. The humiliation of such a crushing defeat will get him sacked, shortly after Newcastle sack Roeder - thus giving him the chance to run a properly big club... albeit with muppet fans. Haha OK well pull your trousers up and stop dreaming, cos there's being optimistic and then there's being an absolute nutter!!! Our strikers couldn't score 6 goals if we played for 200 minutes Not a big fan of the Geordies then mate??

I don't mind the Goerdies, needless to say, I'd back them over any London team any day of the week. What does my head in is the fact they expect to win something every year, when they haven't for god-knows-how-long. There's high expectations, then there's ridiculous demands. They go a bit too far sometimes.

What does my head in is the fact they expect to win something every year, when they haven't for god-knows-how-long. There's high expectations, then there's ridiculous demands. They go a bit too far sometimes. And why would you back them over any London side?? They never win anything. I think the expectation to win trophies was there because they had an England superstar striker there in Alan Shearer. I think they thought having a good striker but rubbish defence was good enough to win them trophies If they think they're good enough, then fair play to them. I don't, and enjoy having a laugh at them when they suffer the disappointment every season

Apart from West Ham. I find them to be quite an acceptable football team. You have a point RE: the Shearer effect, it nearly worked for them so many years ago, but now their defence is so useless that whenever they score less than 3 goals in a game, they're in serious danger of being thrashed (bare backside stuff, too).

Fair enough, I'm not even gona question your bias ... Everybody older than me seems to have a soft spot for West-Ham, I just don't get it Yeah their defence is absolutely terrible, and it won't get much better with Given out injured and Harper in goal!! It always seems to be the FA Cup that Newcastle fans feel they should be winning year after year, funny stuff

I'm not gonna pretend I understand why myself. They've always been known for attacking football, from what I gather, which probably plays a part in it. I mean look at them now... they've tons of strikers, and their defence is a bit iffy at times... so they gotta attack, trying to defend would see them relegated in a flash.

I'd love to see us feeling the need to go out and kill teams, attacking all the time and not wanting to defend. Maybe then we'd also be a team everybody loved, attract investors to our club, get back into the Prem and fill our stadium again Or is that just wishful thinking on my part??
Foxhateram Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Well i think its a great fixture for both financially and for support, if we win this one the crowds will start picking up again. anyway more to the point i would love to get to this game will be such a great atmosphere, i remembered watching the spurs game last year on TV and wishing i was there, this year im taking no chances im going to be there!! anyone know the date or has it not been decided yet?
DaveyJ Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 woohoo brilliant the mans coming home Why do I have to be up here in Scotland? A great draw, I just wish I could go.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Not able to get a day or two off and make the trip down then??
julian_joach Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 IT CAN ONLY BE A FIX SURELY!!! GREAT NEWS!!! UP THE CITTYYYYYY!!!!
DaveyJ Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Not able to get a day or two off and make the trip down then?? Unlikely, its expensive too.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Unlikely, its expensive too. That's a shame. It'd be a great game to be at, the atmosphere would be brilliant despite us playing and being shit atm
lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Is our season expectation now just to stay up? Not too sure. Make a new poll and ask that very question
City_4_Life Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Not too sure. Make a new poll and ask that very question I siad it in the wrong thread, it was meant to go in the match thread. I would but i dont think i know how to make a poll.

rich1409 Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 What a great draw! Martin Martin O'Neill! Does anybody know what date it is though? I know it says week commencing october 23 but was just wondering if anybody knew the exact date and day, if it's a Tuesday or Wednesday? I'l cry if it's a Tuesday because I've got to work
Leicester Lass Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 I could really do with it being on the Wednesday as well!
Jimmy Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 i want it on the wednesday as well, i have thursdays off so i could get pissed without worrying about work the next day. martin will give kelly a manergiral lesson that night
Foxy1984 Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Wednesday would be better for me too! I got so excited about this fixture.. even my mum understood the excitement! MON back for a night!
Mort Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 MON back for a night! Yay!... oh wait, he's on the other side, so we'll be on ones on the reciveing end of a MON thrashing
shen Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Yay!... oh wait, he's on the other side, so we'll be on ones on the reciveing end of a MON thrashing Why the long face? The League Cup is financially scarcely rewarding anyway at this stage, and maybe a thrashing by a passionate MON side could work as a perfect example to our lads on how to play as a team...

Leicester Lass Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 I was just questioning in my head whether our lads would know what this game means? Let's hope so, this is a chance for them to show the fans how much of a toss they actually give.
