Birmingham Match Player Ratings

Well not really sure how we came home with a point to be honest. It was only because of our two centre backs and the superb Conrad Logan that we managed to salvage a point.

Logan 10- Made 4 superb saves that kept us in the game

Kenton 5- Didn't have the best of games really

McAuley 9- Nothing really got past him all game

McCarthy 8- Same as McAuley, but picked up a typical stupid booking

Johansson 7- Looked quite solid

Low 7- Set up the goal

Johnson 4/5- Business as usual

Hughes 4/5- Another poor performance

Tiatto 6- Won some tackles but didn't look great going forward

Hume 5- Frustrated by lack of support and service, he didn't really get much of a chance

O' Grady 4- Worst player for us on the day I think- Showed bad touches and didn't look up for it

SUBS-

Levi- Didn't get the ball enough when he came on. Had a chance to score but volleyed over

Williams- Did virtually nothing just like our other two centre midfielders

ELVIS- Got a goal- what a relief when that one went in! Well played Elv

Logan - 9 - Awesome, really beginning to show everyone just how good he is

Kenton - 6 - Looked unfit and not up for it

NEJ - 6 - No real effect on the game defence or attacking, did like his skill before his shot though :P

Paddy M - 7 - Solid at back, another booking though

McAuley - 8 - Strong, quality, never under pressure and calm

Low - 7 - Pretty poor game until his low ball found Elvis

Tiatto - 6 - Did what he had to but nothing more, out of position too many times

Johnson - 5 - Very poor again. Distribution is terrible.

Hughes - 6 - Poor. Unlucky with his slip which led to the goal but never really got into the game

Hume - 7 - Chased and chased, never gave up but didn't get the right service

COG - 5 - Worst game for the club imo, really poor.

Subs:

Williams - 6 - Only just recovered from injury and it told.

Elvis - 8 - Made the difference when he came on, simple finish but still put it in.

Porter - 6 - No-one gave him the ball, only remember him having one touch and that was his volley high and wide

Logan 10 - amazing motm

kenton 7

Mcauley 8 - again more than capable of covering for kisnorbo

McCarthy 8

Johansson 5 - the only problem with the back four atm

Johnson 5 - same as most games this season

Hughes 6 - Opposite to most games this season actually got stuck in!! Didnt show much quality though

Tiatto 7 - did ok in his 1st game for a while

Low 6 - very hesitant in meeting the ball in defence, but did run well down the line and set up the goal

O Grady 6 - looked good running with the ball but not a great deal of service

Hume 6 - looked very frustrated due to lack of service

Porter 5 - apart from his shot in the 89th minute did he actually touch the ball??

Elvis 8 - Ran into the channels well and fought for everything, oh and he scored the goal

Williams 6 - could tell he hadn't played for a while but is still a class above jonhson and hughes

Logan - 9, would of been 10 but when he came out for the cross at completely missed it and could of cost us dearly

Kenton - 6

Paddy - 8

McAuley - 8

Johansson - 5

Low - 7

Johnson - 4, he was absolutely shocking

Hughes - 6

Tiatto - 6

Hume - 6

O'Grady - 4, we desperately need a new forward, bring back De Vries!!!

Again it seems the defence is faultless but arn't helped at all by the midfield and thats why we conceded. and the attackers are not getting any service. So most things wrong at the moment point to the midfield. The only solution to this that I can see would be Weso and Williams in the centre with Porter on the left and Low on the right

nice to see that people are agreeing on the ratings of players! makes players rate of play seem more real for people who couldnt make it

Logan - 8. Some superb saves, display only spoiled by Rab-style rushes outside his box which on other days might have brought an early bath.

Kenton - 7. Solid as usual.

McCarthy - 7. Kept home strikers quiet.

McAuley - 6. Generally sound, but was outpaced for their goal.

Johansson - 6. Unspectacular, but for once not a liability.

Low - 6. Did very little until setting up the equaliser.

Hughes - 4. A complete waste of space. Should never have lasted 90 minutes.

Johnson - 5. Another shocker.

Tiatto - 6. Put in the effort, unlike certain colleagues.

Hume - 7. Never stopped trying.

O'Grady - 5. Very ineffective against experienced brummie defenders.

Hammond - 7. Looked lively and took his goal well.

Williams - 5. Seemed very rusty.

Porter - 6. Not at his best. Maybe it's time to give him a go in central midfield?

NEJ only has one pass(up the line hooof)!! What is his problem. He thinks he is some sort of GOD the way he says he wants to move on n that!! Hes shocking. Anyway my ratings:

Logan 9- Rash outburst that could of been a red card.

Kenton 7- Some good saving tackles but not brilliant going foward.

McAuley 8- Seems to be doing well.

McCarthy 8- Good as per usual

NEJ 6- as above....one pass.

Low 6- Wasnt really in the game till the goal.

Johnson 5- Nothing game again. Only passes sideways or backwards...its not rugby!!

Hughes 5- One word Lightweight!!

Tiatto 6- Game really seemed to by pass him although some good tackles

Hume 7-Showed good touches, again no service

O'Grady-5 Very poor showing, bad touches.

FFS Thracian, Yeah there is something wrong with him. He's no where near as good as you think he is thats whats wrong with him.

Agreed don't think o'grady is the answer.

But you have to get players from somewhere when you have no money and the youth team is the only option i guess.

Got to agree. Good Strikers among other things score.

He is simply not as good as made out by some, not by a long shot. I mean no offence to anyone in saying this, it is just my opinion.

Calm down on the Logan thing. He has fantastic reactions and has shown a hell of a lot of potential, but don't forget he is young and still learning. When we build people up (like we quite often do) it seems we eventually trash them to the point where their confidence is shot because they aren't the world beaters we built them up to be.

I can guarantee that many of the same people who think he is god this week will be calling for his neck when his inexperience catches him out a few times.

Just say thank you very much, let the lad develop, and lets not get to carried away with the hype

When Chris O'Grady - and he's not the only one because Hume, Fryatt and Porter are the same - plays with the sort of support he'd get in most other teams he'll be a perfectly good striker.

If not I'll be quite happy to change my opinion but so far, apart from against Macclesfield, that simply hasn't happened and all our front men are suffering as a result.

I've been mocked by a few for saying how important attacking midfielders and attacking full-backs are to a team intent on scoring goals but in playing without them we have not played well more than two or three times in 12 months.

If that's not clear enough evidence I don't know what is.

I've yet to see O'Grady do anything of note against any decent opposition.

He has very rarely been asked to play as a traditional striker - and I cannot ever remember us trying to really attack any game against decent opposition apart from Sheffield United at home last season and Spurs in the second half, both before COG was even nearly established.

The only time I've seen such a commitment was against Macclesfield when COG played perfectly well as a striker and scored. He also scored the winner at Luton near the end of last season.

1) I'm talking about O'Grady, not about anything before he was in the team. Fryatt and Hume scored enough goals to keep us up at the end of last season with the same side O'Grady played in last season.

2) Chris O'Grady, believe it or not, along with Levi Porter, is one of the attacking players in our team. As such their job is to make and score goals. Would love to see the stats on that one. You can't blame Stephen Hughes for Chris O'Grady's shooting.

3) Macclesfield. Decent opposition. Nuff said.

4) His winner against Luton is what happens statistically when you are a striker and people keep shooting while you are standing in the way. Eventually one of them will hit you and go in.

The bottom line is that in a perfect world, we would field a more attacking line-up and we would have midfielders laying on bags of chances for our strikers. Who would you want there on the end of them? O'Grady? I wouldn't. As it is, we don't live in a perfect world, we live in one in which Leicester City are godawful and part of the reason is that we have players like Chris O'Grady in the team week by week. He's League Two and when we're relegated after he's scored two goals all season he'll be that much closer to his level.

Posted

Thracian are you Chris O'Grady's dad, uncle or agent by any chance?

He's never going to be a Championship player in a million years, Christ he was pretty poor at a Conference bound Rushden & Diamonds last season.

I admire you faith in the lad but he's rotten.

Posted

COG's cracking.

Doesn't help a young forward when he has a piss poor midfield behind him.

Although at the ripe old age of 20/21 he should able to cope.

He'll be a good player and have a decent career barring injuries.

Johnson 7?!!?! You think COG played better than Hume? Hume who ran all day trying to get the ball worse than COG who looked as if he wasn't interested? I think Hughes 6 is pretty generous aswell.

We've disagreed on this one before.
