Joe. Posted 3 October 2006 Posted 3 October 2006 It infuriates me to see players who dive around like they've just been shot and con the referee into giving them the decision they want. Take Didier Zokora for example, the cheating scumbag. Blatantly dives and wins a penalty, which eventually wins Spurs the game. I'm not blaming the referees here because the players are so used to doing it, they are getting better at it. European football is terrible to watch now because of all the cheating Europeans diving and stopping the game everytime they feel a slight brush on their shirt. Players who dive should be severely punished- it's cheating at the end of the day.

Players now do it more and more because they get away with it. And if you are given the chance of a free penalty i think you would be foolish not to take it, it's clever in some ways i suppose. As for Zokora, i think he was expecting the challenge but mendes pulled out late, so down he goes. Im not trying to praise Zokora, just trying to add an explanation as to why he perhaps did it.
lcfc_jme Posted 3 October 2006 Posted 3 October 2006 Can understand you offering an explanation for it, but that's what we could do without - people making excuses and giving explanations for diving. Referees need to start getting tough on divers, straight red should do the trick. If they aren't 100% sure it's a penalty, give the defender the benefit of the doubt, and also include it in his notebook so the FA can take a look at it
lildave3 Posted 3 October 2006 Posted 3 October 2006 Some people slam smaller players for diving because it looks as though they do. But being small and accused of diving before, we do not! Because we are smaller it doesn't take as much too knock us to the ground, if some 6 foot defender comes tumbling in to us, we cannot be expected to stay on our feet.

I got absolutely flattened by a 6ft5 beast of a defender last week and got accused of diving. Focking Zokora.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 October 2006 Posted 4 October 2006 I booed Speedy for most of his Leicester carear. Can just see the goal at Bolton going in from 35 yards, all the Leicester fans going mental and one bloke stood in the middle of the away end booing.

SystonFox Posted 4 October 2006 Posted 4 October 2006 o'Grady dives :pinch: i'd be disapointed if he dived and it won us a penalty but i wont care too much if it gets us 3 pts.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 October 2006 Posted 4 October 2006 i'd be disapointed if he dived and it won us a penalty but i wont care too much if it gets us 3 pts. So what if he won a penalty and we scored it to win the match? You'd be disappointed for about 30 seconds and then wouldn't care?
lildave3 Posted 4 October 2006 Posted 4 October 2006 I get annoyed with COG because he dives, but his dives are so poor they never fool the referee. If he won one i'd cheer like crazy
lcfc_jme Posted 4 October 2006 Posted 4 October 2006 For such a big bloke he goes down pretty easily. Not good enough imo, 1 because it's cheating and I hate that in football and 2 'cos he never cons anybody with it. I don't know which 1 is more frustrating... Maybe the fact he never wins anything, 'cos then it makes us sh!t at cheating as well as everything else
