Daggers Posted 7 October 2006 Posted 7 October 2006 Tell that to my Dad who was mugged and robbed in broad daylight in Station Rd, Hinckley, Furthermore a very old lady was was raped and stabbed to death in the same old persons home where my parents lived. Sorry to hear that your father was robbed, mine was the victim of an armed robbery and spent around twenty minutes flat on his face with a 12 bore pressed into his neck; he is a shadow of the man he was before but that does not detract from the fact that crime rates have fallen in line with targeted policing in the UK. Having police wandering around aimlessly may imbue the public with a sense of safety but it does not increase it. The issue is a populist one that has been discredited by research and the data produced as a result of policy.
Head Honcho Posted 7 October 2006 Posted 7 October 2006 Reuters News Agency: MIAMI - A fugitive gunman accused of killing a Florida sheriff’s deputy was shot 68 times by SWAT team officers who found him hiding in the woods, according to autopsy results. Police fired 110 shots at Angilo Freeland, 27, the target of a massive manhunt in central Florida following the shooting death of Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Williams Thursday. “That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more,†Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. Outstanding!!!! Can't have been much of him left to count holes in?!?! Did he die?

We have differing opinions and probably best to leave it at that. Stay safe
Suffolk_fox Posted 8 October 2006 Author Posted 8 October 2006 It gets me that in this country, a Dairy can be attacked THREE nights in a row, before anyone gets arrested, yet a lady who was alledged to have kept a ball kicked into her garden gets arrested, photographed, and had fingerprints and DNA samples taken.

lcfc_jme Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 which one's easier to catch? T'is true the lady would be easier to catch, but that's not good enough really. Firebomb attacks can kill people, cause severe harm to somebody and a massive amount of damage to property. Keeping a football kicked into a garden doesn't hurt anyone. Which one is more important to solve??

lcfc_jme Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 i never said which was more important. aye you didn't, you asked which was easier, to which I replied the lady who kept the ball And I then went on to say that it wasn't good enough on the part of the police, as it isn't really a serious crime and doesn't need looking in to. The dairy thing on the other hand is dangerous and needs solving pretty quickly before GBH or murder is committed
Rincewind Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 It appears the police didn't 'catch' the old lady. I assume there was a complaint made against her and because she refused to return property that was not hers the police had no choice but to arrest her. More serious crimes take mopre investigating and requires more help from the public. Before bringing the case to court they have to ensure the evidedence is strong enough to bring about a conviction or else the suspect will walk away a free man. I do not believe in mob rule and police shooting suspects just because they believe they deserve it anyway. The average person on the street do not have all the facts when they react to gutter press stories. Anyway with that story from America it seems the local police would have shot him dead if he had walked into the police station to give himself up. They would have found some reason to kill him. When they blasted him full of holes they did it out of revenge not justice. Sure it saved the cost of a trial and his imprisonment but it was still a premeditated action if the person did not fire first.
