Daggers Posted 29 October 2006 Author Posted 29 October 2006 You only got me on the second count. And I mentioned you in jest because it's often the over-55's who want to ban everything. We all know you're a keen advocate of banning everything, everyone and their pets. You are SO banned
Head Honcho Posted 29 October 2006 Posted 29 October 2006 "60% of the UK market is illegal fireworks that do not conform to any UK safety standards" [standard Fireworks spokesman, Radio5live] "Tackle the yob not the firework" [standard Fireworks spokesman, Radio5live] In Colombia anyone can buy anything ~ and New Year is spectacular, resplendent with fireworks...but the New Year brings with it a catalogue of injuries and disasters. In Ecuador, they have banned the public sale of fireworks entirely - they too have massive displays and the sky is awash with colour...but with drastically lower injury figures. How many years have to go by here where little tossers can use fireworks as weapons with impunity? The display at Edgbaston is cheap and excellent, I wouldn't do it at home anymore. Ban them and that figure will easily rise to 80-90%.
Daggers Posted 29 October 2006 Author Posted 29 October 2006 Ban them and that figure will easily rise to 80-90%. If they are banned then all sales will be illegal and therefore constitute 100%. 60% of a large market is substantially larger than 100% of a tiny banned market.
lookwhaticando Posted 29 October 2006 Posted 29 October 2006 You are SO banned Finally I've managed to get someone's attention.
Guest Posted 29 October 2006 Posted 29 October 2006 Also parents need to be more responsible for their childrens actions but you do have to wonder if the real problem is the do gooders and Governments who on the one hand want parents to be responsible but then threatens them with prison when they have a small problem with their kids but does bugger all with the really scummy parents who sponge off the state and couldn't give a toss.We have a society where parents behave at both extremes. As much as a problem as the parents who leave their kids to do as they please are the parents who won't let their kids out of their sight and do anything for themselves. Take yesterday, at QPR; 2 female toilets yet you can't get in them as mothers have to take their sons. Stop wrapping the little feckwit in cotton wool and make him use the troughs.
Floating Fox Posted 29 October 2006 Posted 29 October 2006 If people wanna put their livies on the risk then they can just dont get others involved - Simple
john_lcfc Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 some bastard is setting off fireworks outside my house as we speak
Master Fox Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 I’m buying fireworks that when detonated will resemble that of a nuclear warhead on Saturday. I also like to aim smaller rockets at neighbours windows
