You only got me on the second count. ;)

And I mentioned you in jest because it's often the over-55's who want to ban everything. ;)

We all know you're a keen advocate of banning everything, everyone and their pets.

You are SO banned

In Colombia anyone can buy anything ~ and New Year is spectacular, resplendent with fireworks...but the New Year brings with it a catalogue of injuries and disasters.

In Ecuador, they have banned the public sale of fireworks entirely - they too have massive displays and the sky is awash with colour...but with drastically lower injury figures.

How many years have to go by here where little tossers can use fireworks as weapons with impunity?

The display at Edgbaston is cheap and excellent, I wouldn't do it at home anymore.

Ban them and that figure will easily rise to 80-90%.

If they are banned then all sales will be illegal and therefore constitute 100%. 60% of a large market is substantially larger than 100% of a tiny banned market.

Also parents need to be more responsible for their childrens actions but you do have to wonder if the real problem is the do gooders and Governments who on the one hand want parents to be responsible but then threatens them with prison when they have a small problem with their kids but does bugger all with the really scummy parents who sponge off the state and couldn't give a toss.
We have a society where parents behave at both extremes. As much as a problem as the parents who leave their kids to do as they please are the parents who won't let their kids out of their sight and do anything for themselves. Take yesterday, at QPR; 2 female toilets yet you can't get in them as mothers have to take their sons. Stop wrapping the little feckwit in cotton wool and make him use the troughs. :@
