What has been the best day of your life so far?

My best day was September 11th, 2001.

Seeing the World Trade Centre towers collapse was just such a euphoric experience. Anything seemed possible on that great day. To see a bully like the USA get her nose bloodied so spectacularly was both heartwarming and hilarious. America had it coming for a long, long time.

The only disappointment of the day is that they didn't get all of their targets.

You could've been far less extreme in your wording there. If all you wanted was to be a tease and get a reaction, you should have been far more subtle or even better, chosen another subject. What you've said is nothing short of disgusting, vile and heartless. I'll choose to believe you really did this in an attempt to be provocative rather than actually expressing a view that condones terrorism.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

9/11/01 made the USA a far WORSE place, for many reasons. And it didn't do much for Afghanistan or the Middle East, either!

Anyone seeking to "celebrate" that dreadful day is in need of some serious help...

I've clarified this once (well, tried to), but my post was deleted.

You are right. 11/9/01 did make the USA a far worse, place. It made the world a worse place.

But we didn't know that then. The events of 11/9 were so shocking that we could finally think the unthinkable: If the WTC towers collapsed, then perhaps the greedy, exploitative and brutal USA could disappear into nothingness before our eyes too. Just the possibility of that happening was giddyingly euphoric. I imagine that cocaine users probably experience the same sort of sensation after snorting a couple of lines.

The suffering caused to some of the victims of 11/9 was regrettable, but so is the suffering of child workers in Indonesian sweatshops. It doesn't mean that Nike trainers aren't comfortable.

Note to Disco Bob & Other Moderators: The purpose of this post is to clarify my position, which has apparently not been widely understood. I have made an effort to tone down any provocative language. While I can understand and sympathise with the desire to prevent this thread being dominated by September 11th, I feel it is only fair that I am allowed this clarification as my original post remains undeleted and other users continue using this thread to deliver abuse to me. Thanks.

He must have taken one big knock on the head 'cos I'm sure LH used to be alright. :dunno:

I sort of vaguely remember a time when I used FT for purposes other than expressing extremely controversial political views, but that may have just been a dream I had.

LH, everyone makes foolish remarks at one time or another, and in this case I think you didn't think before you posted!!!

I'm going to be contoversial here. Even though I condone the actual event. A part of me did think that when that happened, well, finally, now you know what its like to have terrorist strikes in your country. Makes you think twice about supporting other terrorist groups now doesn't it.

I think the point here is actually saying 9/11 was the best day of LH's life. It's a tad extreme.

Yeah, just a tad. And I thought my thoughts were bad.... :blink:
