My best day was September 11th, 2001.

Seeing the World Trade Centre towers collapse was just such a euphoric experience. Anything seemed possible on that great day. To see a bully like the USA get her nose bloodied so spectacularly was both heartwarming and hilarious. America had it coming for a long, long time.

The only disappointment of the day is that they didn't get all of their targets.

This is the singlemost stupidest post I have ever read.

This weasel post stands as testament to the arrogance and uncaring nature of those who would claim to represent the best interests of the people. No doubt you will come back with some lame reasoning about US foreign policy and innocent lives - those working in the twin towers were pieces of families, people that were loved: sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. Those catching a plane that day expected to be able to speak to their friends and loved ones the day afterwards - not be part of some sick and twisted terrorist attack.

As one who lost a friend, as one who has met many grieving relations of people lost on that horrific day (of all nationalities and beliefs), I can honestly say that you need adjust your smugness and ignorance.

Such a stance, such a post, simply serves to belittle any argument you try to put over in the future. If this was the best day of your life ~ you must lead a sad, lonely and pathetic existence. If you have no concept of how much pain and suffering this caused to people, to use such heartless words, then you have no right holding an opinion of any hue.

I pity you.

How can you separate them?

Broadly, life's been terrific but the following comes to mind:

a) Seeing my wife return alive after a 13.5 hour brain tumour operation was the start of a marvellous day. Within hours she was eating by herself and by the end of the day was chatting cheerfully to other patients, wanting a shower and talking about going home.

She had clinically died for over a minute at a previous operation attempt and the medical team had every rescuscitation technique they knew on hand for the second effort. I'd been warned she might never be herself again but it became clear that day that she'd come through with all her lights shining.

She was expected to remain there for up to 10 days but we went for a restaurant meal in Nuneaton exactly a week after her ordeal and you'd never have known she'd been to hospital but for some bruising from the clamps. We celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary next September, God willing.

b) The birth of my three sons. They are smashing kids, we share so much, and I'm very proud of them.

I remember when after weeks of not knowing what was going to happen you came on and told us that it was a successful operation, and how grateful you were to every single member of staff who had helped your wife's recovery. Just writing this brought a lump to my throat. But it also make me smile so much to know that everything was all ok, even though i vaguely know you and don't know your wife.

I remember how happy i was that day just reading your topic.

I cannot believe you really believe that to be a great day. No matter where you stand politically. All those dead and all those killed since America sought revenge. It goes on with no end in sight. How can the start be such a great day?

That's disgusting.

Such a blatant disregard for human life is sickening.

Likewise.

Things like that put everything in to perspective, especially when a few minutes previously we'd all been arguing about something as trivial as football!

Have you got no family then and if you had and they'd been caught up in that monstrous insult to human behaviour, how you you have liked to read that?

How sad for a human being to be so consumed with hatred.

And in what way do the Americans in that building necessarily reflect the American leadership generally?. It's akin to saying Tony Blair represents me which is just about as loathesome as it could get, apart from yourself, of course.

I say that because your remark was quite the most indefensible I've read on this forum. I've argued with people on here who have diametrically opposite opinions to my own - and have believed them mistaken or misguided, as I'm sure they believed of me.

But beyond despair, irritation, annoyance and all sorts of other reactions, I've never felt anything like hatred or even disrespect. Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of American foreign policy do you really believe the right answer is to condone even more sickening violence and to witness yet more wasted lives?

When I criticise Blair's responsibility for so many needless deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan it is not because I believe his opponents are right. It is because his response is wrong - as a human being and a Christian.

My wife made the point recently. It takes nine months to grow a human being and a further 20-odd years investment in time and effort to bring that life to adulthood with what, one hopes, are decent values. That's nearly 21 years, yet people randomly elect to wipe those lives out because they have the power and believe they have the authority.

And, even worse, in their shameful arrogance, they claim to do so in the name of God or while claiming that they have belief in God.

And all you do is condone the continuance of such brainless atrocities.

It is high time our leaders and those of the rest of the world showed some real examples and set some real standards - of honesty, decency, a desire to help others, selflessness, generosity of spirit and moral but merciful strength. And it is time the peoples of the world took a more united stance in making sure that was the case everywhere.

Yes it is a lot to ask. But every journey starts with the first step and plenty of brave people have already made massive sacrifices towards that end. The American people would appear to have said something too but the move towards a new era ever-extending humanity needs to gather force.

Like ultra defensive football really, violence has run its course and proved flawed at every turn because it has caused such misery, insulted our minds and damaged the spirits of so many of us too ... if you speak to those who've witnessed the despair of their actions in killing a sister or a brother, a mother or a father.

Evidence? You can point in many directions. But I look close to home. My father was a wonderfully kind and expansive man but he never, ever, spoke of his war years in and around Nijmegen when he saw at first hand the results of mens inhumanity to one another. He was obliged to play his part, but in his heart he knew it was wrong. It never left him for a day.

I used to think you had some valid arguments, but how can I take you seriously after posting that? Or were you after a reaction?

Thanks Bertfox - and to Kayteh. Your comments are part of the many reasons I find this forum so worthwhile and remind me of the many earlier comments from forum members which helped so much when we were facing our problems.

Let's keep the thread positive, with tales to warm the cockles of my heart...let's leave this crap about 9/11 and move on. If people wish to discuss that then may I suggest another thread doing it may be more suitable?

The day my son was born earlier this year, closely followed by my wedding day last year.

Other than those obvious choices, the day I took a "five-for" against Yorkshire schools, the dates of my two ops and the play-off win against Palace.

9/11/01 made the USA a far WORSE place, for many reasons. And it didn't do much for Afghanistan or the Middle East, either!

Anyone seeking to "celebrate" that dreadful day is in need of some serious help...

TBH I think he should have his account and IP banned, he's got away with claiming that every time a US or UK soilder is shot dead is a reason for a celebraion (I in turn told him he deserved to be shot himself, and I stand by it) this is a step to far. <_<

If thats not bad enough he also claimed England had 0% chance of getting out of their wolrd cup group.

What he said was indeed out of order. At the very least, the comments should have been removed. They bring all the users of this forum into disrepute.

But given what you've just posted about me on the Leicester City board, you're not in ANY position to take the moral high ground..

I have no idea who you are, and I really don't think I'd like to know. This post and these ideas make you seem complete and utter twat. How on Earth can you possibly condone what happened on that day and actually try to claim it was heartwarming and hilarious? You are a total fooking knobjockey son. I have seen many stupid arguments posted on this forum in my short time here, and I have seen many ridiculous posts. But this has to be the biggest, stupidist, sickest most pathetic thing I have seen written anywhere for as long as I can remember. To be able to post something so cruel and hateful about one of the most sensitive, evil, devastating events ever is something completely incomprehensible.

America had it coming for a long, long time? Saying such filth is likely to result in your days being numbered in the same sense mate. You've got issues and need sorting, you're becoming a danger to yourself. Manwell_Pablo said you need shooting, and I can see why. The highlighting I have done in your post is justification enough. You're scum.
