Firstly: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaahhaahahaha. Biggest losing home margin ever? Aaaahahahaha! I'm hoping, hoping and PRAYING that someone has the balls to make the "yeah, but we had a lot of injuries" excuse after our lot got ripped to bits for using it back in February. Dan Carter looks unstoppable, how the Aussies can claim to have the best back line in the world is just beyond me. Sure, Latham, Larkam and Gitteu caused us big problems, but it's our first game of the season and I'm thrilled with a draw.

Can't see England doing anything at all in the Six Nations this time around. Between the Irish, us and this year's probably marginally favourites, France.

Sooooo, anyone watch? Anyone care... anyone cry?

Wasn't that when we all decided to be rugger fans for a few weeks, and wave red and white flags?

Aye, aye it was. But you only sing when you're winning.

we got spanked and no excuses to be frank , my only positive that we didnt get spanked and have to watch tindall try and open upopen up defences , 6 nations i predict we will beat scotland and italy lose to france and ireland and 3 points either way will win it at your place .

good result and performance from your boys saturday although didnt see it as i was in the limo at sheff wed. i backed wales with an eight point start and got paid out nicely :D

good to see ryan jones back and surely its gotta be good news that parker is coming out of international retirement?

as for the world cup , it would for me big a huge sporting upset if the all blacks dont win it , i have a sneaky feeling the irish will reach the semis

Saturday, when we humbled (and should have beaten) the Oz after an admitedly shakey start. When was the last time England won something? A grand slam maybe? 2003's old news, get over it, you don't even have most of that side anymore!

Depends where you've got Scotland. It at Twickenham? If so then fair play, you probably will, but I wouldn't fancy you boys north of the boarder at the moment. Fact is, your squad's depleted, you look largely uninspired and Scotland are a team that should be on the ascendancy. Now, being Welsh, I know all about false dawns - and maybe last year was just a rare purple patch for them, but I really think they're beginning to bloom. Who knows? As for your visit to Cardiff, dunno. This has to be the first year in my lifetime I can actually remember, where I genuinely can't see (at this stage) England winning in Cardiff. Probably unwise complacency, and I doubt I'll be this confident come the turn of the year, but if we have a good Autumn series then I'm going to be well and truly looking forward to running riot again in the 6N. I genuinely don't think I'm being too bias in saying we simply seem to have a better team than you at the moment.

As for Parker, can't say I'm bothered. Where's he going to play? He's not good enough to get ahead of the Henson and Shanklin pairing, and frankly I'd rather see (though being a Scarlets fan I'm somewhat bias) Mathew Watkins in ahead of him too. Though his return does add even further depth to a squad that really is starting to show it's able to cover itself much better than in previous years.

And well, the World Cup. The problem the All Blacks have is that they always peak between World Cups. They did it last time, I remember back to 2001 / 2002 when everyone was convinced that the ABs were frankly unstoppable. Come the WC, everyone had them sussed! The Oz had cought up, got them figured, and put them in their place. Watch them play Wales and France now and I wouldn't be surprised to see much closer games and come the WC there'll have been more videos watched, more games played and more strategies figured. I'm not saying the ABs don't deserve to be considered favourites, but I am pointing out that they would have been this time before the LAST world cup, too. And look what happened! Some shite team full of thirty five year olds knicked it at the whistle!

The last time England won something my friend, was the biggest rugby competetion in the world.

You're right, in all fairness. And Greece are a much, much better team than France, Italy, England, Holland, the Czech Republic and Germany. They are European Champions, afterall.

you can't compare football with rugby.

in rugby you very rarely get a big upset, completely different game.

... uhm... uh. What? France doing the ABs in 99? England doing Oz in 2003? Italy (rather embarassingly) doing Scotland (then reigning Six Nations champions) in 2000 and us in 03? Granted, you don't get minnow nations like Greece popping up and winning huge international tournaments in rugby (mainly because rugby in the non-6N / TN countries is hugely under develoepd), but these games in themselves were major upsets. And they're just a handful of recent examples.

The point I was making, anyway, wasn't that England only won as a fluke, are a minnow rugby nation and didn't deserve the title - but was that it was years ago. Greece might have won Euro 04, but there's been plenty of international games and even a World Cup since and it's been proved that other nations are, now, stronger. The same's true of the rugby world cup. There's been countless international tests, three Six Nations (something that, in all honesty, in the Northern hemisphere, means much more to most rugby fans than the WC, it's our main, traditional tournament - the WC is much newer than football's) - none of which you've won - and a whole host of international changes (including staff and players) to the England side that makes it frankly unrecognisable in contrast to the summer of 03.

so, you've just proved that upsets are rare.

yes england are a different team, sport works in a cycle like that, and given time we will return back to the top.

wales on the other hand will forever be living in the past. Considering the greats you've produced in the past, the welsh national side has been a bit of a joke for some time now. The only reason you won the six nations was because england and france were going through a bad spell. That welsh side against england and france sides of the past would be beaten for sure.

Posted

I'm not sure whether you're just trying to rattle my cage to get a reaction out of me, or whether you're just blindly ignorant. Sport does work in cycles, yes, Manchester United and the Leicester Tigers respectively are good examples of this at a domestic level, for both rugby and football.

And as for "the only reason you won, is because everyone else is shit" - well, that's rediculous. The only reason anybody wins anything is because the other side are inferior, by technicality. We have, quite probably, the best row of first choice backs in the Northern hemisphere and one of the best in the world, we won the Grand Slam playing swift, graceful rugby that caught every other team off guard. Yes, England were (and are) fooking awful, but France were strong and competitive and Ireland were looking on form.

If you honestly believe the current Welsh squad is "a joke", and you're not just trying to get a reaction out of me, then I honestly believe you genuinely know very little about rugby. You're right, we, as a nation, produced some of the best players of all time several decades ago and we did, as a nation, struggle with the arrival of the profesional era. The English took off and you dominated the early profesional era, with the French also adapting well. The fact is, the Irish and now Welsh games have caught up and the Scots aren't far behind, the natural order of pre-profesional rugby is being restored and while this looks to be just the beginning for us; I'd be genuinely, genuinely scared if I were English, of a new dark ages for your sport.

as for welsh dominance? i guess we'll just have to wait and see ;)

If your that bothered about English sport, why do you keep bringing it up?

Possibly, but it's quite hard to say really. I mean judging what players (of any game) will be remembered as greats is hard. O'Driscoll, for example, will probably go down in history as a great because he's quick, clever, exciting and a Gerrard-esque leader; but how much more deserving is he in comparisson to Humphries, who is, to be fair, a points machine? In the context of Wales, I imagine Gareth Thomas will go down as a great, Henson has the potential to and Martyn Williams surely will. Besides, are Brazil (back to football) a joke because their current team isn't quite up to the standards of their "classic" team of decades past?

If your that bothered about English sport, why do you keep bringing it up?

That doesn't even make sense. You're missing a negative in that sentence somewhere. As for why I brought up England, well, there were two major games of rugby over the weekend - I passed comment on both. You opened the World Cup can-of-worms, not I!

the welsh have a thing about the english for some reason

Normally in this situation I'd be defending England, but unfortunately SosbanFach is right. We are crap and have no chance of winning the 6 nations this year.

The match last weekend was thoroughly depressing. We have a shight manager and very few decent players who can change a game a la Dan Carter.

Hate to say it, cos I hate them with a passion, but France will win it. :(

That was uncalled for.
