Hullfox Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 I hope that you are now completely satisfied that he is not the new Messiah. He is not fit to wear Filbert's shirt, let alone get on during a game. And being a tryer is just not good enough, so don't chuck that one at me. Get rid.

Get rid. 49629 Whole heartedly agree I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I here him being called for by the fans, it just demonstrates how low we have sunk and the standards we are prepared to accept by calling for a player who was considered, in football terms a laughing stock 2 seasons ago. Why also is he the ONLY player who gets his name chanted, that demonstrates how poor we are at vocal support. I know CL doesn't have alot of choice, I know Benji tries hard, I know it's not his fault that he's even on our books as a player and I know he's scored but he is very definately not the answer to our problems. Williams or dare I say it Blake would have been preferable. Even Wright if he'd have been on the bench.
PompeyFox Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 I had to laugh as the fans in front of me calling for him were, within 15 minute's slagging him off. You cant replace an average with a crap player. Lets hope his name never gets sung again, and puts this chanting to rest. You've had your wish, he got on the field.
Cobbo Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 If we are going to throw him on, it obviously should be up front. He has been effective there before.
Scow Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 I would have preferred him up there to Scowcroft. Benjamin is a shocking player generally, but he makes things happens. He was plonked well out of position on the right wing, hardly his fault.
Anish Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 He was awful today - and I have to agree with Hullfox's and DavieG's assessment. He is simply not good enough to wear the blue shirt and he never will be. I know he works hard and tries his best, but he isn't any better than Scowcroft at the moment, and Scowy has been dire.
dan_84 Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 i would rather see blake come on than benjamin although both players are shite
Scow Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 I think we can all agree that our strikers are shite, although Connolly at least has some movement and intelligence in his build up play.
Mark Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 It's obvious why people sing. We haven't had any entertainment for years now. And him just coming on will bring a smile to peoples faces and a laugh. I'm glad Craig saw what he was capable of today, don't make that mistake again. Tommy Wright a sub at least, he ain't proved he's not good enough, all the others have.

Stuliasz Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 I've not seen anything from him to say that Tommy is the most talented forward we've had come through in a while, but we are getting desperate so I wouldn't say no to a recall for him.

Hullfox Posted 27 December 2004 Author Posted 27 December 2004 He was plonked well out of position on the right wing, hardly his fault. 49643 Being out of position doesn't mean that he shouldn't control a ball or make himself available. Stearman seemed to do alright playing out of position.
Wellman Posted 27 December 2004 Posted 27 December 2004 He was plonked well out of position on the right wing, hardly his fault. 49643 Being out of position doesn't mean that he shouldn't control a ball or make himself available. Stearman seemed to do alright playing out of position. 49721 Trev also tried to play a ball down the line, went straight out . I didn't hear any bad mouth about him though from anybody after he came on. This was because everyone loves him for some reason

Stearman seemed to do alright playing out of position. 49721 Remember the Preston game where Trev started upfront and we were playing great? Then he got injured and had to go off and we went back to the same old shite... He is no winger and his control is not great, but up front at this level he can make things happen.
Hullfox Posted 27 December 2004 Author Posted 27 December 2004 He is no winger and his control is not great, but up front at this level he can make things happen. 49747 The only thing that he lacks as a player is talent. The only thing he made happen for me is to make me wonder why I bother to travel a 250 mile round trip when no hopers like him are still being picked and whats more, two thousand people are calling for him to come on. We are playing no better football than we did under Mickey. The only improvement that we've shown came whilst Bassett and Wilkinson were in charge. I'm not blaming Levein because he needs a good 18 months to get things to his way. I would have hoped however he could have done something that made me feel more optimistic.
Katy Posted 27 December 2004 Posted 27 December 2004 Drop Connoly he is truely shite at the moment - start Tricky from the start and see what happens! - Im only half joking by the way

MADLEVEIN Posted 27 December 2004 Posted 27 December 2004 i remember when trevor scored against pompey in our promotion year and nobody sang his name then, so why are we singing it now ??????? he his up there with the top worst buy's by peter pan taylor 1 akinbiyi 2 junior lewis 3 trevor benjamin etc etc etc
