The detention centre is for failed asylum seekers awaiting deportation or for those awaiting appeals on their cases. I agree there is no room for bullying but as I said earlier the report that mentions it is very subjective because most of the evidence was gathered from the detainee's. Of course it's a crime. As such they should be treated like a criminal - just as a petty thief, joyrider or murderer. Even being treated like a murderer would be better than the life they left behind (supposedly)... at least murderer's get to lead a cushy life behind bars. Television, food, etc etc.

Have the countries enroute not been free of repression for at least 60 years. I think fondly af Italy, Switzerland, France even Belgium aint so bad. Twould seem a lot less hassle not to have crossed the Channel in the first place and found gainful employment in the vineyards of Provence.
