holly Posted 10 December 2006 Author Posted 10 December 2006 Because it was a weekend and you don't get student prices at weekends? guessin so! still couldnt beleive it cost that much! and it was sooooo busy thats alot of money
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 It costs £8 to go to Ikon in Maidstone on a fri/sat. IKON is shit. Isn't Gatecrasher supposed to be a good club or something anyway? Not really my scene. I probably wouldn't pay a tenner to go though as I don't really enjoy clubs these days.

The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 I went a few weeks ago and there was some special DJ there (didn't recognise the name). Anyway it was £12 entry. £2.50 cloakroom. £3.50 cheapest drink (VK Tropical or something) cheapest bottle of beer £4. Ridiculous. I didn't stay long.

I sometimes forget how stunningly bad going out in the Stone is. Then I go back and remember.
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 I got thrown out of MUGS yesterday.... I repeat. THROWN OUT of MUGS. For those non-Maidstone folk... Mugs is the local, hideous but cheap, nasty Wetherspoons. I was in there with a friend and was asked to remove my baseball cap.. I laughed, seeing as most of the people in there were wearing string vests or at least those bright yellow visibility things that workmen who should be at work wear. I said to him 'I'll take it off, but since when have Wetherspoons been picky about a dress code?' He said it wasn't a Wetherspoons, it's a Lloyds. It's always been a Wetherspoons. Anyway, I took my hat off and five minutes later he completely unnecessarily came back over and said 'if i see you with that on again, you're barred'. At this point my mate said something along the lines of 'what is your problem? he didn't even have it on' when he decided to eject us! Anyway it's now apparently a Lloyds. It's still Mugs though, it's all the same. Full of complete piss heads, nasty broken furniture, stained floors, dangerous staircase, horrible toilets, incompetent staff. We now have a place called Ethos, where Bar 9 used to be. It's quite good, but expensive. If you do have to go out in Maidstone, I recommend there, ME1 and Project Blue. Oooh we have a Japanesey one too. Less said about that the better though.

They can stop being silly, call a spade a spade, and admit it's a spoons. And a Japanese style bar in Maidstone? I can see that going horribley wrong.
Finnegan Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 If you think £10's expensive, never go to the west end! Or Fabric!

You get free prawn crackers with your pint of locally-brewed-but-given-an-oriental-sounding-name beer. All of it is horribly lacking in subtlety, authenticity or quality food/drinks. The culchad locals are lapping it up though.

The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 Next time you're about, I'll take you out on a tour of all the brilliant new bars we've got here in Maidstoneshire.
Matt Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 £7.50 to get in Liquid and Envy, Then the stupidly priced drinks, still a good night though. Oh yey and Glyn for BB7 will be there next weeks I'm sure the place will be packed next week
Lord Nibblington Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 It will be a night to remember, I'm sure!
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 When you consider the entry prices, cloakroom prices and drinks prices... these places must be making an absolute fortune.
Rincewind Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 Lloyds is part of the Weatherspoon group after being took over. They have kept the name and style (well supposedly) If you thought it bad being asked to remove your cap what about this poor fella?
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 I know what Lloyds is.. Same chain, but completely differently decorated, little bit more expensive, often have TV screens, music... sometimes live acts, which Wetherspoons traditionally don't have. Changing this to a Lloyds is frankly ridiculous as the place is a shithole and they haven't even changed anything about it!

The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 Have they changed the prices though? I'd just helped my mate find an engagement ring for his woman (i had very little input, I think he just wanted someone to say ... yeah it's nice). So he bought me a few pints and lunch. The menu looks exactly the same as previously. As for drinks prices, I couldn't tell you. The place was almost empty but every table almost had empty/half empty glasses and plates on it. The place is a dump. I'd never go there through choice.

Hurrah!
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 Worryingly, a lot of people I know are getting engaged/married these days. I feel my days are numbered before serious questions are asked of me. Still my woman just told me she didn't want to get this flat... which means I'm going to struggle if I still want it. Bugger.

You could always find some random Albanian Guy to share it with. You'd become a brand new Odd Couple. And hiliarity would ensue.
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 I feel a cra ppy US style sitcom coming on!
Lord Nibblington Posted 10 December 2006 Posted 10 December 2006 I feel a cra ppy US style sitcom coming on! It would be a ratings winner! It has all the elements that they would find hilarious!
