Guest Daniel Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Yet again people looking in the past. Come on people, the futures bright. The futures bright, the futures Wright.
Scow Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 It's always nice too look back on the good times, and that friendly was a great occasion for this club. Lets hope under Levein that we can attract that type of opposition again in time.
Anish Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Yep I hope so Scowy. Incidentally that was my first game as a turnstile op
MADLEVEIN Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Yet again people looking in the past.Come on people, the futures bright. The futures bright, the futures Wright. 51142[/snapback] hey, stop copying my sig!!!
Wellman Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 thats a well good saying though The future's bright The future's Tommy Wright
Cobbo Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Stop getting carried away with Wright please While I think he should be given a chance, he really hasn't impressed me much at all.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 How we have fallen? It was a friendly ffs. It's not like we were playing in the semi final of the Champions League against Barcelona was it? We could easilly get them to play here again in the future if we can afford the same fee we paid them last season.

Would they play us again though in the championship? I think it's unlikely.

Anish Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Jon, I'm sorry but I disagree. It's not just about the money - imo Barca wouldn't play us in a friendly if we were in the Championship regardless if we paid them the same amount. It would be like Real Madrid playing Coventry City for money - not likely.

I know they won't come whilst we're in the Championship but it was said with my tongue firmly in cheek. The club were in talks to have Barca for the first ever game at Filbert Way but we couldn't stump up enough cash.
Oli Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 I agree with Jon, it was a friendly they weren't playing their best and look to destroy us at home in a friendly.
Mad Dog Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 What a load of rubbish. They played us in a friendly, because we paid them a lot of money to do it. Plenty of the larger division 1 teams can afford to get big clubs to play them - didn't Coventry get Ajax this summer?

Collymore Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Any one remember how well Nalis played against Barca? it was the first time i had seen him play and he made ronaldinho look like Junior Lewis! Got too exited though and ended up putting him in my dream team which was a mistake <_<
Guest Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Us playing Barca is just like us going on playing one of the lesser known European sides we seem to get for our friendlies. But do they sit there thinking, "oh we'll never get a team of Championship quality playing the likes of us"? No. At the end of the day, it's down to money.
