lookwhaticando Posted 19 December 2006 Author Posted 19 December 2006 Once a utility, always a utility... Fact is we have three players above him in the pecking order at CB and one ahead of him at RB and LB at least - possibly two in each case. RB: Stearman, Kenton/Maybury LB: Nissa, Kenton/Maybury On balance I think he might be second choice at LB but third at RB. Anywhere across the back four, he's not the first choice, and perhaps not even the second! I don't think we can play Hughes RM and Kenton RB - it doesn't make much sense, everything must go through the left channel or the middle. The left is hardly dazzling - we have Porter, sure, but he's supported by a less-than-brilliant LB in Nissa.

To be fair Nisse has begun to come forward more now and looked better in defence too. I think he has been one of our best 5 players this term.

I think he has been one of our best 5 players this term. There's no doubting he's come on in both senses - I can tell that from radio commentary and video highlights after the event. This is probably because he's been a LB and nothing else for a while. Under the CL days he was moved about a little bit and was dropped from time to time... which would make it hard to settle and adapt in a given role. Hats off to him for his efforts. He does a job, definitely, but there's always room for improvement. I can't understand why he was dropped in the first place. RK decided, for once, to change things up out of luxury rather than necessity. Must have had something different for breakfast to make him act a little funny that morning.

MBK Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 I would say reintroduce Logan in a couple of games. Next year is the one I really expect Logan to shine. He needs to work with Stowell and Douglas to improve.

Yes we defended well against a poor team but he made vital saves, handled well and disributed well. It would be a travesty if he was dropped.

But Logan being a talent, must be nurtured with the occasional game for first team and all the reserve games when they happen.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 December 2006 Author Posted 20 December 2006 Playing musical goalkeepers is not wise at this point in the season.
Scow Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 Henderson - 9 goals conceded in 10 league games Logan - 20 goals conceded in 13 league games. Interesting statistic.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 December 2006 Author Posted 20 December 2006 Henderson - 9 goals conceded in 10 league games Logan - 20 goals conceded in 13 league games. Interesting statistic. If we add a little context - Logan was the keeper during our unbeaten run - bar the Villa game. Just throwing it into the mix. Take out the capitulation to Norwich (3 goals) and Sheffield Wednesday (4 goals) and Logan stands at 13 goals in 11 which is nowhere near as horrendous-looking.
MBK Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Playing musical goalkeepers is not wise at this point in the season. Why not? It should musical chairs in every bit of the team. Players keep challenging the manager's impressions. I get the impressions players do train and stop when it should be more than that. Otherwise playerd know they ll be in the team anyways next week and stop bothering to train hard to keep onto their place.
Ric Flair Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 I can't understand why he was dropped in the first place. According to rumours, it was because Giles Barnes made a mockery of him and Kelly got arsey with Nisse.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 you don't win friends with salad, you don't win friends with salad............................. I thinks we should play 8 up front and try to supprise them?
Ric Flair Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 you don't win friends with salad, you don't win friends with salad............................. I thinks we should play 8 up front and try to supprise them? An interesting alternative to Kelly's rigid 4-4-2. I think we should all chant that song on saturday. That will put the shit up them.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 I think we should shake it up a bit? Bring back Rab and Momo, its just not the same without them!
Lichfieldfox. Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Team proposed looks fine but I'd put Sylla on bench ahead of Walsh and Low, and would be tempted to have Kenton on bench as more versalite than McCarthy. I'd stick Logan in vs Hull on Tuesday.
Ed 1 Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Any idea of what the attendance will be on Saturday? (guesstimates incuded)
MBK Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Healthy Options Rob Kelly will have a near fully fit squad to choose from his Leicester side take on Cardiff at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. The Foxes go into the game looking to register their third win on the bounce - having dispatched Wolves and Barnsley over the last fortnight. And Kelly looks like he will be going into Bluebirds encounter with an almost clean bill of health as his side look to kick off their Christmas campaign with a bang. He said: "We go into the games in a relatively healthy state. "Andy Johnson won't be available until the new year. He's currently recovering from an ankle operation. "Rab Douglas is coming back from a knee injury and is almost there, while Momo Sylla has got a groin problem. That will take a week or two to clear up. "But everyone else is fit and available. That's a good position for us to be in. No new news OS

DB11 Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 I think I agree with that except for one thing. Low or Sylla (Depends who has been doing best in training)
lookwhaticando Posted 21 December 2006 Author Posted 21 December 2006 Take out the two Henderson conceded vs Luton and WBA, that would make it 5 in 8 games. If we count the Colchester and Barnsleh games only, each keeper has conceded no goals in one game.
potter3 Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Take out the two Henderson conceded vs Luton and WBA, that would make it 5 in 8 games. I think shots on target should have taken into account
Thracian Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 Barring the unexpected Henderson's bound to play. No manager is going to drop a keeper who's just made a string of good saves in keeping a clean sheet and has played his part in two successive victories after a month of defeats. Logan will just have to bide his time and learn to be less tolerant of team-mates crowding his box, getting sent off, giving possession away in silly places and donating equally senseless penalties to the opposition. But at least Kelly dropped some of them as well.
