i dont agree with booing. i have said it before and will say it again we are supporters are job is to SUPPORT!!!

excellent reply. We need to support, not boo.

51595

Totaly agree. Everyone is entitled to get frustrated and we would be human not to, but i ask the people who boo to look up the word support in the dictionary HERE and particually read point 4 as its not all about point 5.

If you can't accept your weaknesses and failings, how on earth are you going to improve?

Ok Chesney

if u get an exam wrong at school, what do u need encouragement or taunting

Yeah, right.....

if u get an exam wrong at school, what do u need encouragement or taunting

51610

Two totally different situations, it's unfair to compare them.

However....

If you failed because you spent your lessons dossing, and you didn't bother to study, then I wouldn't be surprised if somebody like a teacher or parent did have a go at you, and rightly so. It's your own fault you've failed, and that point needs putting across.

Similarly, as a professional footballer, you are paid a considerable amount of money to entertain a lot of people who are paying for the privilege to watch you. These are people who spend a lot of money (bare in mind you'll be paid as much in a week as a lot of these fans are paid in 52), and their own freetime to watch you. These people know the difference between bad luck and lackadaisical. Feeling disappointed, possibly cheated, can you blame them for making their feelings known?

Society as a whole needs a bloody good kick up the backside, and making excuses and simpering around those who cannot be bothered will do no good in the long run.

I love these I am better supporter than you threads... All those people who are holier then thou and can stop themselves venting their frustartions, I bow to your superior support.

However, as I said earlier I boo people like Jordan Stewart and the team on a whole because at the minute what they are producing is utter shite. They get paid a good deal of money (as Lisa points out) and most of them look uninterested. Well until they pull their socks up and start putting in the performances we know they are capable of they are going to get every bit of abuse that comes their way.

If you want to sit and molicoddle (sp.) all these over paid primadonna's then that's your lookout. But I will argue that you are part of the problem, by not letting these tools know what is wrong they will gladly sit back and accept their dough and churn out mediocre drivel week in week out.

I will state though that I don't turn up to games and turn on the players while they are warming up. I try to wait until half time as I know they don't mean to come out and be poor. But if they are not producing the goods then I will vent my frustration in a civilised manner.

As a side note I think certain players get abuse because of an overall frustrtation at the Club and what we have been served up over the last few years.

The word lackadaisical if anyone was wondering :D

I have done, but not professionally. Why is it so many are drawn to a career in professional football I wonder? Money and adulation, I don't suppose, have anything to do with it? After all, those have to be earned.

Because is spelt BECAUSE ;) - I see your point but we are slightly getting off topic here - people pay their money and have the right to boo/shout/complain etc etc - players know this, some of them take notice of it and do something about it - others dont - thats life, whatever happens some people are going to boo others arent. Im not usually one for sitting on the fence but its personal choice - if players dont want the fans to boo then they should put the effort in, our players havent been doing that recently so they deserve to get booed.

People who get up hungover on a Sunday morning play more for passion than anyone who is paid to play the game.

51610

Both

if you just get encouraged then you'll think your doing ok, i know me personally prefer the latter, it gives me the extra reason to prove someone wrong

BUT everyones different, so you can't say either helps more as players will differ in how they are motivated

All players start playing for fun, but somewhere along the line money comes into it, and attitudes change.

How many ex-pro's play Sunday league when they retire? I'm sure Beckham is counting down the days until he can play for his local when he's retired from the professional game.

Posted

Quite a few ex pros play at a low (non league)level. But ppl like Becks wont play that level because a) it would be hard with media etc

2) Dont need to although it may sound like im contrdicting myself i know what i mean

i would stick my neck out and say nearly all our 90's team that have retired are playing still at amaturer level. Went to see blyth spartons play the other month and a sneaky graham Fenton was on the bench! thats the unibond!!! You would be suprised how many ex pros turn out for sunday league, and they love just as much as stepping out at Wembley!
