Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 We are always pretty quiet. No excuses really. Crap support in terms of atmosphere. It sounds like we did pretty well numbers-wise today though. I'm hoping the Milan takeover will get things back to how they used to be, as up until the last three years or so we compared pretty favourably with most teams. But we've seen so much shit football over the last few years our support is comatose these days.
willy37 Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 just got back. ive never come out of a leicester game feeling so let down. there was no effort at all today. at least when we havent been playing well, there are few players you can say gave 100% but not one of them deserved to wear the shirt today.
Bert Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 only a few were, well done lads @ the back right no one seemed to wanna open there mouths down the bottom mind u after the first half and having to wait about in the cold and wet i couldnt be arsed either Cheers. We tried in vein to create something. But it just wasn't happening. You should've come to the back. Loads of spare seats.
JoeyB Posted 30 December 2006 Author Posted 30 December 2006 Well that was a waste of time and effort. well at least you wet down and we all respect you for that
He's not bald Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 I agree that performance was as miserable as the weather..and it's hard to sing when there's naff all to sing about....better be improved on Monday or I want my petrol money back

Even at the final whistle they went through the motions but even the thanks was half arsed!
London_Fox Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Cheers. We tried in vein to create something. But it just wasn't happening. You should've come to the back. Loads of spare seats. I sat near you guys and thoroughly enjoyed it (at least if everything else is crap try to have a good time) but I thought most of the fans were rubbish. Clearly no major reason to get behind the team but if you pay £26 for a ticket, travel half way across England to watch a championship match I don 't imagine it's because you're expecting quality football...at least get behind the team!
Wilkesy Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 only a few were, well done lads @ the back right no one seemed to wanna open there mouths down the bottom mind u after the first half and having to wait about in the cold and wet i couldnt be arsed either i was at the back right with maybes, bert and wils, was ok up there but there wasnt really much to keep us singing
Floating Fox Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Glad you enjoyed your day out despite the weather. However, are you taking the piss about your supporters putting Saints fans to shame? Considering the delay, the weather etc, Saints fans either side of you never stopped singing. I was sat right beside the Leicester fans and could hardly hear a thing, I did notice about 15 people at the back singing, that was it though. I always thought Leicester had a passionate support, however having been to most games at SMS and Walkers between us in previous year, I have to say, Leicester are the quietest fans I have come across. Not a wind up, just the truth. TO be honest I quite like southampton and there fans are very good. We dont have very good fans atm in terms of travelling long distances becasue the side always lets us down. We haven't had much 2 shout about in the last few years.
Maybes Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 i was at the back right with maybes, bert and wils, was ok up there but there wasnt really much to keep us singing agreed....at least we had a good laugh though...even though our team was as bad as the weather.
lildave3 Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Guys in the back right were the only ones singing. At the front i think their was only 3 of us singing, and one of them was a crazyman. Was very impressed with their fans though, and oddly, i like that 'We're the itchen, we're the itchen' chant, quite funky that. I enjoyed the day though tbh, it was a sh*t performance, sh*t bus ride, yet still it was alright.

Saints fans were very good vocally today.
Joe. Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Well I can safely say that was terrible. The worst performance of the season. We were outplayed and outclassed in every department. Even the coach journey was bad! As lildave3 said, there were only 3 of us singing, one bloke (the crazy man as lildave refered to him as) who sang "you're not fit to referee" when the referee didn't give a penalty to Southampton

London_Fox Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 It did seem that having the away fans in the middle of their 'kop' made a lot of difference. It works because on the whole Southampton fans aren't a bad bunch, friendly and don't seem to create trouble. Might make a difference with us too. Swap the family stand and the kop then we'd have L1 and the kop on either side...we could even do their half and half chant! Also helps that they play decent football, are in the top four and went one up very quickly!
Bert Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 We did have a gurrold laugh at the back. Saints fans were good.
StuRomseySaint Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Thats how to create an atmosphere in a stadium identical to ours! Saints fans were very good vocally today. Our stadium has struggled a few years back to get a atmosphere going. Since then alot of people moved to the Itchen Corner. Now we have 2 singing areas, to the right and left of the away fans which really seems to help things, which is what the 'Itchen/Northam over here' sing-off is all about. At Leicester you have a small group of singers to the left of the away fans, you would benefit from moving your singers from the Kop over to the right of the away fans, makes it alot easier to drown out away fans and keep them quiet if you have your singers on either side of them.

Your fans are definitely the best I've seen in the Championship.
Goat Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 We got down there and had to walk for half an hour through the torrential rain and once we were thouroughly soaked through we got to the stadium only to be told the game was unlikely to go ahead. Full credit to the ground staff who got the pitch back to a playable state. Then had to withstand two halfs of pretty poor football on Leicester's part. Well done to everyone who went, that just shows what true city fans you are.
Wilkesy Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 yer get the kop to swap with the family stand, would help to make our fans look good at home and drown out away fans so someone start the poll then
northamstander Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 I was stuck in the Southampton kop. You couldn't hear much from us today. We were very quiet, although no surprise with the performance. northam stand??
