Collymore Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 My name tells you everything!! Such a shame he retired so young but in my eyes one of the best players ever to grace the field of play let alone Leicester.

Stuliasz Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Im one of the few people who has a shirt with Collymore on the back. Must be a collectors item! Best striker though imo has to be heskey.

Katy Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 EMILE HESKEY!!! 52290 Loved Ian Marshalls work but the true ledge for me was Super Stevie Claridge - that goal at Wembley to take us up in '96 will forever stay in my memory - I have a framed photo of him celebrating, hanging proudly in my hallway

Louise Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Well, statistically speaking... 1st: Collymore - 5 goals in 12 appearances: 0.42 goals per game. 2nd: Roberts - 44 goals in 111 appearances: 0.40 goals per game. 3rd: Dickov - 37 goals in 97 appearances: 0.38 goals per game. 4th: Cottee - 34 goals in 100 appearances: 0.34 goals per game. 5th: Claridge - 22 goals in 80 appearances: 0.28 goals per game. 6th: Marshall - 26 goals in 99 appearances: 0.262 goals per game. 7th: Joachim - 31 goals in 119 appearances: 0.261 goals per game. 8th: Heskey - 46 goals in 197 appearances: 0.23 goals per game. This of course doesn't take into account what league was being scored in, or the style of goal, or how important it was to the club at the time...

davieG Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Mancini.Even thou he didnt score one of the best forwards in his day in the world. You lot maybe are to young to remember! 52335 Come on Louise let's have the stats for Mancini, as in how many MINUTES did he play for us. On this basis are we counting testimonials as well. B)
BartonFox Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 If you compare the players value to the side at the time they played and in what division then Steve Claridge wins it hands down. MON signed him we went up, he scored the winner to send us to Europe and he bagged 10+ goals in the top flight as well (I think). Not bad for a scruffy 30 odd year old. Iwan Roberts was tremendous in the old first division as highlighted by his efforts at Norwich but that was his level. Cottee was a natural goalscorer and never given the credit he was due. Dickov was great and we really saved his career and I think he repaid it. Collymore was without doubt the all round best forward and had O'Neill stayed and got Chris Sutton then I reckon we'd have been top 6 no doubts. Heskey - I was delighted when we sold him for all that money, never rated him as highly as some of the City support. I feel a large portion of the support had 'blue tinted spectacles' towards him as he was a Leicester lad. Still that is understandable and acceptable.
davieG Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 heskey, collymore, cottee, claridge, joachim, iwan roberts, marshall, dickov. Well I for one am sitting on the fence here, they are all so different in style to each other it's an impossible choice. Do you base it on natural football skills, Do you base it on loyalty Do you basis on stats goals/game/division Do you take into account how long they played for us Do you decide on the importance of the goals Do you take into account the quality of the supply Do you take into account whether you 'fancied' them ???? The list of potential considerations is endless, so I'll stick to remembering them all with a degree of fondness and pleasure and hope that we can actually put another up there along side them soon. Here's your chance David Connolly & Mark De Vries to turn yourselves into legends and to become part of LCFC folklore - the door is as wide open as it's ever been.
Oli Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Got to be Stan Collymore. What a player he was in his day. His hat trick versus sunderland gave me high hopes as well.
