stez Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 collymore is the best striker we've had in the last 10 years but he constantly p!ss's on his chips most important strikers we've had are claridge and ian marshall for me. claridge for kick starting the mon glory years (after a dodgy start due to illness) and marshall for scoring without seeming to try! and THAT goal against athletico madrid in a tie we were cheated out of! edited cos i cant spell to save my life!
Cat Burger Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Cottee is my pick, the best finisher in the list hands down with a good work rate, that's what being a striker is all about, he fed on scraps the best of the lot, Claridge almost as good and Iwan third because as it was said earlier division 1 was his level.
Mark Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Heskey - he scored goals (maybe not enough but still), he created goals, loved leicester, stayed with us for a decent amount of time before moving on, alot of young players don't do that anymore. Look at what happened when he left, not the same team, even before O'Neill left. He was critised by fans, well take a look at what he have now, that's how good he was.

Little Nicky Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Got to be Cottee, though it would have been Stan the man Collymore if he'd stayed on the straight and narrow, what a partnership him and Heskey made up top, it was amazing! Claridge is also a complete ledge he's got to be second choice as him and his shin we're brilliant!

He was awesome at Leicester he wasnt necessarily a goal scoring striker but he created so many chances for the other strikers. Also when he was running at defenders he was always chopped down as they were scared of what he could if he got my them. He also used to be man marked alot leaving the other striker more space to run and hopefully score. Good man leicester through and through and was good of him to put up money to try and save the club.
MON Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Collymore was the best in terms of ability. In terms of what he did for the club = Cottee/Heskey.
King Kyle lcfc Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Would it be possible to see the stats for David Speedie
MON Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Would it be possible to see the stats for David Speedie 52528 yes
King Kyle lcfc Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 I was gonna say walshie as well but he was rarely used as a striker after 1994 so with it now being 2005 thats over 10 years a go but it would still be interesting to see the stats for speedie and walshie in a city shirt
Who ate all the pies? Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Still he was a cracking striker! I'd look up his stats but I'm to lazy...perhaps it's the pies
shen Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 I seem to remember a big strong dark skinned attacker who worked like a horse and had an unreal transfer fee over his head... And I'm not talking about Emile or Benji..
Cobbo Posted 6 January 2005 Posted 6 January 2005 Heskey for meeeeeeeeeee, so much of our play went through him and he set up so much, as well as scoring a few stunners.
Louise Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 Mancini.Even thou he didnt score one of the best forwards in his day in the world. You lot maybe are to young to remember! 52335 Come on Louise let's have the stats for Mancini, as in how many MINUTES did he play for us. 52336 314 minutes. Sorry it took me so long

Good man leicester through and through and was good of him to put up money to try and save the club. 52437 I have to disagree, he never showed his true potential in the first team and never has since. The reason was he was/is mentally weak. He had the ability to do what you have said but time and time again he would 'fall over' or to put it bluntly, DIVE. He didn't and still doesn't possess the mental toughness to be the complete centre forward. When he went to Liverpool after about 6 games the Kop turned on him because he would DIVE rather than take on his man. He did that all to often at Filbert Street and I actually feel he cheated us out of his true ability. Plus all this Leicester through and through.... bollux he was a self confesed Liverpool fan and always has been. He was 'Leicester' because he was at our Academy. I will say this though he did demonstrate a very good trait of humanity by donating money to the Club during Administration, at least he had recognised what the Club had done for him, I will always appreciate that.
Anish Posted 7 January 2005 Posted 7 January 2005 Cottee and Claridge for me. Both were tremendous grafters and did wonders for this club when nobody gave them a chance when they first came. Both scored vital goals in their time and I don't think there will be many (if any) Leicester players who score the winner at Old Trafford to beat Man Utd...not in my lifetime anyway. And Claridge's goal in the playoff final will never be forgotten by me or anybody else who was at Wembley that fanstastic day.
Scarby Posted 8 January 2005 Posted 8 January 2005 When Roberto Manchini came on for Leicester does anyone remember who else made his debut on that cold frosty day a Dean Sturridge who if i remember scored something like 9 in 12, which means he was the best in recent years. On the whole for class in would have to be Collymore, i still cant believe he pulled on a leicester shirt. For work effort, Cottee, Marshall, Stevie Claridge, JJ, Deano, Roberts, Dickov, Robins and even bloody Mark Blake all worked hard and made Leicester a force.
New England Fox Posted 8 January 2005 Posted 8 January 2005 I always enjoyed watching Joachim scare the living hell out of defenders with his pace when he first emerged. He scored a few crackers back in 93-94, shame he seemed to go downhill from the moment he left us really.
