James. Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 A Leicester City Football Forum probably isn't the best place to post this but I want to buy a laptop for around £600 and before I go ahead and buy this one I wanted to know if anyone knows anywhere better, cheaper, etc to get one from Merci beaucoup.
JoeyB Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 just look at the usual places like currys and stuff then compare them all and print them all off and see whats got a better spec and stuff for the same price. or you could get an ace desktop for that price P.S. depends what your using it for.
Daggers Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 You might want to check out the recommendations from PC Pro? HERE

Bluefoxtim Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Get one from dell.co.uk Build your own. Got my desktop pc for £450 about 2 years ago. Still cheaper and better than most ones available from curry's etc. Got a right bargain with free double memory, etc.

Head Honcho Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 I got mine from Technoworld at a very reasonable price here are a few sony laptops that meet your budget http://www.technoworld.com/keysearch.asp?Searchstring=vgn This one has some good specs http://www.technoworld.com/laptops/SONY_VA...W_VGN-N11SW.htm
lookwhaticando Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 I would second that - Good prices, good quality kit and brilliant customer service/technical backup. Thirded. My own laptop came from Dell, it's great. It's taken a battering over the six months so far and not one fault yet. Also, the customer care with Dell, in my experience, is fantastic.

Daggers Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Worth pointing out (again) for the benefit of anyone else looking for a computer ~ Mesh make great computer but offer the WORST customer service in the world. In my opinion, put your money into a toaster rather than hand it over to Mesh.
blue blood Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 steer clear from the high street. If you know someone the is good with PC's then possibly the cheapest option is to get one built to order with a LOCAL (non chain) PC retailer - as long as the parts are good quality - ask more questions if you want im happy to help. Dell is ok but you can pay less for more with good build quality else where. 1 that i would recomend is http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Category.aspx/Tru...%2fTruComputers dont be put off its from Toys r us. the manufacturer makes great quality Laptops and for the £699 spec its a bargian you will pay well over£1,100 at dell sony etc. good luck!!

Just a thought for you - Your Norton is ok, but it will cost £ to keep up to date. Get AVG Free downloaded as soon as possible, it is gr8, it is free and I believe in it. That's why my fee is going to "The Royal Oak"

Does the unit qualify for the Windows Vista Express Upgrade program? - If not I would be inclined to return the unit unless Dell provide you with a free upgrade to Vista (Vista is released on Jan 30)
