Bert Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Tbh by the time your playing for England, your more than likely gonna have a decent car!!
lookwhaticando Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 I dunno, I've heard the rules are pretty hard to grasp. If planks like Rio Ferdinand manage to remember (most of) the laws of the game, then I'm 100% certain you could.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Tbh by the time your playing for England, your more than likely gonna have a decent car!! Essentially what I said earlier... but with fewer words. That's the way football is - if you're 'good enough' for a call-up, there's a 99.9% chance you already have the money for a Ferrari.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 would that be the same Scholesy who told Ericsson and McLaren to eff off when they asked him to play for England? Scholes had his reasons. Besides, he'd already been capped by England plenty of times. He decided to retire from internationals because he was tired of being used in funny positions, and to allow him a longer club career. His case is quite clearly different to the young, up-and-coming generation of potential England players. He has been capped, they haven't. He's only got a few more seasons of football ahead of him... academy players would surely have at least another 10 years ahead of them as a minimum!

Okay not as fast as Ferrari but just as luxurious and more comfortable and practical. Also may be when the player said it he was being flippant and possibly hasn't a cat in hells chance of being picked for England. Or maybe he is plain dumb and if he gave it more thought he would have opted for the England cap.
Joe. Posted 21 January 2007 Posted 21 January 2007 I'd definitely go for the cap. To win a cap for your country would be far more satisfying than buying a car which is probably going to be crashed/nicked anyway.
Daggers Posted 21 January 2007 Posted 21 January 2007 If it was me, here and now, I'll take the car and say thank you very much. Caps are for boy scouts and public school boys - fast cars are for fat balding middle aged men.
Nationwider Posted 21 January 2007 Posted 21 January 2007 To be honest, I'd expect a Ferrari to be well within the reach of even the most modestly paid Premiership players. If you're on £5,000p/w and it means that much to you, you can afford (to insure and drive) a Ferrari. Having said that, if you're on £5,000p/w in the Premiership, you won't be good enough to play for England anyway. The smart £5,000p/w player invests in property and shares, retires aged 35 with no debts and spends the rest of their life living off their property income, bank interest and the fees from awful, ghost-written newspaper columns, leaving plenty of spare cash for the Ferrari and the wife's en-suite cocaine habit. Easy life.

Easy life. Superbly analysed. Doesn't Robbie Fowler own 160 houses or something silly? He didn't amass that number of properties overnight, he started early and as he earned more and more money, invested more and more money. Now, he could retire at 35 with millions in the bank and millions worth of property. I mean, frig, if he's hard up, he could sell a property a year - say each property is worth 200k each, he could easily live off that one year. If he wants to live it large one year, he could see two properties. Good striker, smart investor. ;)
Geo V Posted 22 January 2007 Posted 22 January 2007 Yep, England cap equals ferrari. It goes as well as hand in glove, laurel and hardy and Jordan and Peter Andre. Apologies for the last one That piece does however typify what these poor managers have got to put up with these days. Having a dressing room full of lads with no hunger or no real need to do well must be doing people like Stuart Pearces head in who always seemed to give 110%. Its just a shame that he chose such a shite club to do it with as a player
