Monk Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Afternoon all. Just thought I would share a comic comment made by Kamara on SSN last night when I got home from work. He was being interviewed about who he think could make the playoffs. He said 'Anyone down to Crystal Palace, dont think Plymouth can make it.' He had obviously failed to take into account that Plymouth have a game in hand which if they won would take them 2 points above Palace? Similarly if we win our game in hand we will only be a point behing Palace. Surely then we (and Wednesday) are worth a mention (aside from the fact that he hates us). Not trying to justify that we can make the playoffs. It just seemsed a ill informed comment. Doesnt suprise me. 1 West Brom 35 23 63 2 Derby 34 9 63 3 Birmingham 33 18 61 4 Sunderland 35 16 60 5 Southampton 35 17 59 6 Cardiff 35 14 59 7 Preston 34 12 59 8 Wolverhampton 35 3 59 9 Stoke 35 14 53 10 Colchester 35 14 52 11 Crystal Palace 35 3 48 12 Plymouth 34 2 47 13 Leicester 34 -3 44
morris1234 Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 i thought u meant doimansy kamara ooh he chats absolute shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite!
Lord Nibblington Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 The man is an idiot. This is hardly suprising.
Thracian Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 The problem in trying to make up 15 points in 12 games, even with a game in hand, is that teams who are presently averaging more than 1.5 points per game are not suddenly all going to stop winning or taking points. Indeed, with so many closely grouped it would be impossible due to the fixtures they all have against each other. I would say Kamara is talking daft if he thinks anyone below Wolves has a serious chance of going up. Stoke would need something exceptional and I haven't seen a single exceptional team in the Championship never mind one lying ninth so to even consider anyone below that is unrealistic. Don't forget they've got to make up ground AND win the play-offs. Not impossible just yet but the games are disappearing fast.

What if we didn't let Hull beat us (what were we thinking?) or drawing at home with the likes of Luton who'd been crap... and someone else... who'd we draw with at home when we should have finished them off? There's a good few points that should have happened but didn't... and that's annoying because now we're finally in our groove, we're much further behind. Most importantly... if we had, say, 6 more points on the board, Kamara might have mentioned us. The useless gobshite.
lildave3 Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I think 10th is the lowest placed team still in with a chance, Colchester.

His reports on matchdays on Gillette soccer saturday are so bad they are hilarious!! I wouldnt take too much of what he says too seriously because he does talk some mega cack. How can we take someone seriously whose look is still based on a 70s pop icon??!!

I can't see anybody below Wolves being in with a shout from now on in. 8 teams fighting for 3 places though? Sounds like it'll be interesting stuff to me!

Someone usually comes from nowhere but the top 8 look to have it between them unless someone strings together a run that is almost perfect, like Leicester are about to do !!!

I actually thought this was a sensible post until I read that bit !! I agree in principal that one team has always come from nowhere and gone on an immense run towards the end of the season, but for that to happen this year one team will have to play out of their skins and at least 3 of the top 8 will have to be fairly poor for the remainder of the season to allow them back in. I just can't see that happening and I am happy with my 8 team promotion chasing prediction!

To be honest we have no chance of getting amongst this lot but this division has a habbit of changing dramatically every few games. At one stage in the season it was Cardiff and one other to join them but they have gone Pete Tong, Burnley were in the play-offs so signed Ade () and then followed with the likes of Joey and Steve Caldwell but have gone on a stinking run, Derby looked all set by flying and added some quality in the Jan window but have slipped away etc etc. Every 5 games or so this division looks so different so anything is possible, expect us going up of course !!

I see what you mean. The league is highly unpredictable, and so tight even at this stage that a run of 5 or 6 wins can see you leapfrog many teams. It's definitely fair (and true) to say that anybody can beat anybody in this league on any given day, and nobody is guaranteed an easy victory anywhere. I just wouldn't expect the top 8 teams to throw this one away being so tightly packed and having such a good chance of getting in the playoffs/going up.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 1 March 2007 Posted 1 March 2007 Don't diss him he's a legend! He also worringly looks like Lionel Richie
Number 6 Posted 1 March 2007 Posted 1 March 2007 teams to go up: Automatic Birmingham West Brom Play-offs Sunderland Keane, although I hate him, has done a great job, they looked good at ours, play some nice football and now have the momentum
