PompeyFox Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 Well what can you say. You'd expect those type of corners by Stewart today to have been kicked by a 14 year old. What a disgrace, 5 corner kicks he took to try and get the ball in the box for a chance to attack and get us a goal, and he fluffed everyone of them. On another point i though Connelly's game went up a notch when DeVires came on, i hope those studs on his knee cap don't cause him no harm and he can play in the Cup on saturday.......
Wellman Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 In his defence, it did take him about 30seconds each time to put the turf down, but they were poor, so no excuses really. The crowd get on his back to easily and just blame him for everything. Where i was sitting, there was loads of abuse thrown at him in the second half as he was down my side off the pitch. I wasn't one of them because I think he can be a decent player for us

I fail to see why he, of all people, gets so much abuse. He's been ever so solid since Micky left, but why isn't it recognised?
Anish Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 I think he's improved no end since Levein took over, he's the best left-back we've got and there aren't many other players who could easily replace him in the team.

Other than that he's the man on the left side!
Mark Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 Over the past month his corners have been spot on, no problems at all, no one complaining about him. Today though they just all went wrong for him. Fair enough, move someone else onto them, as we did with Gillespie taking over them towards the end of the second half. I don't like how long Jordan takes walking up to take them anyway, it slows the play right down.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 I think he was due a bad game. He's been doing well lately and I think today was one of his more frustrating games. He doesn't deserve abuse though although the only abuse I heard where I sit was aimed at Scowy which I think was deserved.
Foxedup Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 Apart from the set pieces i though jordan played ok, i know he made a few mistakes but to me i thought he was lively and caused a few problems on the left. Which is definatly more than scowcroft did. i cant stand him
Foxing_Around Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 Jordan Stewart is one of the most frustrating players I have ever seen in a Leicester shirt. I'll be the first to admit I am not Stewart's biggest fan. He is very inconsistent. Without a shadow of a doubt his biggest problem is confidence. There is no doubting the lad has skill and I do believe if he could put in consistent performances, he could be a top player. My frustration is born from the glimpses of class he shows, like gliding round three players for example, only to be undone by one of the worst corners I can remember seeing. It was interesting to see in the second half, after sections of the crowd had got on his back, his confidence drained and he was almost afraid to attempt to put crosses in. IF he could improve his consistancy, then he *could* be a top class player.
Foxing_Around Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 I must add his defending has improved (bar his headers, which could end up anywhere) but I feel he could add another dimenson to the team with his ability to get forward.
Samu Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 I think he has improved significantly since CL's arrival. I believe he is turning into a great, solid defender. Also he's not at all afraid to make forward runs and when he takes on people he's nearly always successful. He would be the first name down on my Leicester team sheet.
Guest Posted 22 January 2005 Posted 22 January 2005 In open play, he id well, with little support. But his set pieces are shocking.

Besides, it seems a bit unfair to condemn a guy on the grounds of his set piece delivery I dunno what you're on about with consistency, hasn't he just had a very consisten couple of months right now? And as you said, he's a confidence player, much like his colleague on the opposite wing, and it's pretty natural that his confidence dips if the crowd get on his back... I'm not having a go at you, just the boo boys in general. It's frustrating to hear about one of our better consistent performers getting unreasonable stick by supporters...I hope Jordan can deflect it and get on with his business... If he does have a dip in form though, I know who I'll be blaming <_<
Foxing_Around Posted 23 January 2005 Posted 23 January 2005 Okay, poor example highlighting his poor corners, there were better examples of his inconsistency I could have picked from his performance today. The point I was trying to make was the fact that I feel he could be a top class player, IF he could perform consistently throughout an entire game. Granted every player makes mistakes during a game and maybe I am being overly picky, but I see the potential he has and I would love to see him fulfill it.

But don't let the frustration get to your head. Support the lad and cheer him on whenever you can, cause that is what he thrives on. He's not so confident that he can withstand abuse thrown at him, and afterall its in our own interest to get him playing well There are loads of more frustrating players in our team at the moment who deserve a right slagging off (not naming names), but Jordan is one that can prove crucial to us..

MADLEVEIN Posted 23 January 2005 Posted 23 January 2005 stewart try's his hardest for city he isnt the most gifted player in the world and he always seems to show defenders what he is about to do, he should work more on beating a player with a bit of pace instead of trying to be skillful because he just aint got it. i dont condone the crowd getting on his back though during the game no player who pulls on the blue shirt should be given stick like that.
Ric Flair Posted 24 January 2005 Posted 24 January 2005 I was going to create a thread about Jordan Stewart today, because since Levein has taken over Jordan has been class and he deserves some credit. His crosses on saturday were pretty abysmal, but usually he is a decent crosser of the ball. Other than his crossing I thought Stewart was excellent on saturday and if Gillespie hadn't faffed about with the ball in the second half and buried it like he should have done then Stewart would have been hailed as a wizard. That one-two he did and flick over the defenders head was superb but Gillespie didn't dare shoot yet again. I personally think Tiatto let Stewart down on saturday, Tiatto was shocking. First time he's been bad this season though, I love it when these two play together as they actually want the ball. Stewart is definately producing some quality displays and I think people should lay off him. Focus their frustration on Scowcroft, Dabizas, Dublin, Gemmill and Makin please.
Scow Posted 24 January 2005 Posted 24 January 2005 What surprised me about Stewart on Saturday was his ability to beat his man reguarly. I've never really seen that from Stewart before. It's just a shame his crossing wasn't up to it, although I remember towards the end when he got past one man wth a nice bit of skill and then delivered an excellent cross, which was headed over by De Vries. That's the potential he has.
