Vardinhio Posted 22 March 2007 Posted 22 March 2007 Anyone been to Prague recently? I'm going for a mates 21st for a few days next week. Any advice on places to go? (bearing in mind this is very much a lads trip abroad and the beer will be flowing).
JoeyB Posted 22 March 2007 Posted 22 March 2007 What airport? Uum if you pop into world news shops at the airport they'll have some books if not just head for the bars
cisono Posted 22 March 2007 Posted 22 March 2007 Anyone been to Prague recently? I'm going for a mates 21st for a few days next week. Any advice on places to go? (bearing in mind this is very much a lads trip abroad and the beer will be flowing). I would avoid "offers" in the area of Vaclavske Namesti (Wenceslav Square). Although it may seem tempting (particularly after a few beers), I would not go there for entertainment of any type (a walk around is fine though). Do drink but watch your bills. Central places (especially touristy area) tend to overcharge on every single bill (e.g. charge for 4 drinks when only 2 drinks were had). I lived there for 1 1/2 years some time ago, so I thought I'd look for some more up-to-date info for you. This is what I found: " Prague has got a bit of a name for being popular with Stag-party Englishers." "The gay scene is good too, if a little seedy. Not sure what places I was in, they all seemed the same. Grotty, dark with thumping house music. Cute guys though.. Lots of drugs." PS: Hope your mate is gay
Vardinhio Posted 23 March 2007 Author Posted 23 March 2007 , thanks for the heads up. So yeh, I'll add a note to the itinerary, watch out for horny men.
blue blood Posted 23 March 2007 Posted 23 March 2007 ahhhh prague, ive been a few times, be aware of the pick pocketers, head for the old town for drinking, its cheaper. if you want hanky panky hardcore prague 7 (an area) is where to go. if you want go go bars head to Atlas. the ladies are really hot in prague. its getting more commercial but still a recomendation. take currency from here you may get stung there. pre arrange taxi fares as some cabs have suped up meters. the river is stunning as is the charles bridge. stunning clubon the new town side of the bridge (on the left hand side) nice coctail bar on the main square. try and get hotel around prague 3. it hink we stayed in city hotel, cheap clean good location. the local beer is staroperaman. if you need more info just ask.
Daggers Posted 23 March 2007 Posted 23 March 2007 On the M1 northbound between junctions J6 and J7, there are currently delays of 10 mins due to heavy traffic.
cisono Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 ahhhh prague, ive been a few times, be aware of the pick pocketers yup, that can be a problem... stunning clubon the new town side of the bridge (on the left hand side) Are you talking about the one with 4 different stages/floors? That one is rumoured to be the largest in middle Europe and I am pretty sure I saw it featured in a spy movie the other day...
Leonisco Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 It's a typical Eastern European city - the centre's great, loads to do and see but don't stray too far into the surrounding housing estates unless you've got a weapon of some sort. Food is ridiculously cheap, I think when I was there I managed to get a full Maccie D's meal for about £1.20! Watch out for the pick-pockets, especially if you're pissed, they're everywhere. And also the traffic can get a bit crazy around the centre, so use the trams. Prague's a great city, I'm sure you'll have a good time.
Daggers Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 Try to dress like the locals so you can blend in - otherwise you will find your time taken up with them trying to sell you vouchers for pottery classes

(I saw some funny pics but cannot remember where!)
willy37 Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 everynight i found myself being followed by what i imagine to be illegal immigrants from africa trying to persuade me to either buy drugs off them or go into their "titty bars" Beer works out to about 40p a pint tho. quality!

Then I'm spending the next travelling round the world, you can easily tell I don't want to get into working cant u! And who's going to pay for all that? Watch out for plans like that. I had a friend (from Leicester actually) who went to Thailand some years ago, then Australia a year later and has not been seen since! Last time I got an email from him, he was in Australia working as a bricklayer, sharing a house with 9 people and spending most of his time on the beach... Not making that much use of his two electrical engineering degrees then PS: Will drop him an email and see if he's still alive
blue blood Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 Yeah that one. Cool! Been there ... I remember leaving at 6am or something like that sounds really famaliar. wqalking home form club while the early bird locals were starting their day off. there was a heatwave when we went and the garden area was perfect. 1 of my fav clubs. if i remember correctly it was quite cheap to get in and booze was really cheap inside we took a fw of the pedal boats out too, they look fun but bloddy hard work espically as my friends and i decided to have a race. , happy days!!
