davieG Posted 26 January 2005 Posted 26 January 2005 Micky Adams has made his first signing as Sky Blues boss, drafting in talented Portsmouth youngster Richard Duffy on a three month loan. Duffy is capable of playing in a number of positions in defence and midfield but his preferred position is at the back. The 19-year-old signed for Pompey in January 2004 and has made just one substitute appearance for them, although he did spend two months on loan with Burnley earlier this season when he made nine appearances, scoring one goal. He was a member of the Clarets side which beat Aston Villa 3-1 in the Carling Cup. A product of the Swansea youth system, Duffy played 23 times for the Swans before he was snapped up by Harry Redknapp and has been capped by Wales at Under 21 level. Duffy's loan officially starts this Friday and will run until the Sky Blues' last ever league game at Highfield Road against Derby on April 30. Adams has wasted no time in starting to strengthen the Coventry squad and thinks Duffy will be a valuable addition. "We're delighted to have signed Richard," said the new City boss. "He's got experience with a Premier League outfit which will be invaluable to us. "He's a utility player who can play in a number of positions - in the centre or right side of defence or midfield - and he will add options to our squad." Duffy will be available for selection for City's Fourth Round FA Cup tie against Newcastle this Saturday.

Mark Posted 26 January 2005 Posted 26 January 2005 How many times did he play again? This Duffy is starting for Cov on Saturday, up front it looks like he's going for the lethal partnership of Dele Adebola and Stern John
