dandannieldanok Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Personally I don't know why some people throughout still thought RK was a good coach, IMO he's not. However I know there are fans still out there who believe he is, I just thought this poll could make it clear about people's views.
Trumpet Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Im not going to say he wasnt a good coach, as i think he was in some areas. Blatantly not at man management and motivation but some of that is undoubtedbly down to the big heads on the pitch (Hughes to name one of many), it was time for him to go though. Even though Rob's gone, can we still have Rob out polls and the like? The place wont be the same...
Sods Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 now rob kelly has gone can we say goodbye to the polls as well on shiteness. But on the topic hes a smashing bloke works hard on the training ground and thats says it all for me. goodnight.
Benji Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 By keeping us up he succeeded in the job he was employed to do. However, as a show of good faith he was offered a job way beyond that, and so was left vulnerable to failure. Unfortunately it hasn't worked at all, time to move on.
shen Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Excellent coach and manager. He's too good for Leicester and this division, but he was unlucky to inherit such an inept bunch of players.

I'm not sure whether that is tongue in cheek (I don't think it is), but it is a very interesting and reasonably fair overview. For me to believe that he was great I would obviously have to see RK in another job. Agreed, here at LCFC it was unfortunate upon him to be landed with such poor players, despite however worse I personally beleive his management made the situation.

Hmmm, did he not have a hand in signing and playing just about everyone of those players? Tell me one player that had shown any sign of progress or development? The man was a no-hoper and a shite one at that.
Trumpet Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007  Are you joking? Kelly, is a leicester fan, Kelly...
dandannieldanok Posted 11 April 2007 Author Posted 11 April 2007  Are you joking? No, everybody is entitled to their own viewpoint. Yes, I'm with the majority, he was crap and had to go but I respect others are not. Inheriting CL's cast-offs and the inability to bring in anybody he REALLY wanted meant he could never really stamp his own mark on the club. I tihnk with this squad, other managers could do better but ceratinly not greatly better.
filbertway Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 If he was a good coach? Why did the players never seem to improve? The only player I've seen improve is Hendo and Kelly didn't coach him.

Also he brought in 10 players this season which meant there was money to pay signing on fees and or wages He was as useful as a leopard skin bag of pink furry spanners.
Trumpet Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 But... you said that comment, was reasonable. Im going to leave this thread but before i go, he was an honest, cracking bloke who had the clubs interest at heart. He re-doubled and re-doubled again, his efforts and the players efforts on the training ground but it just wasnt enough, cracking bloke though.

The man was a no-hoper and a shite one at that. Perhaps he did, I'm not sure but he hardly had the overriding say over CL did he. Not many but to be fair do any of the players have the potential to get much better. I actually agree with your last statement, I was merely trying to create another slant, making the argument more balanced, by building upon Shen's point.
Thracian Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 He's history. He did a worthwhile job saving us from relegation last year. I've had my say about him. The list of shortcomings was considerable and nothing that has happened altered one of those points. But good luck to the guy. If he learns from his mistakes he'll be better for it. If he doesn't he'll be a fool.
