Central Trains...

I hate Central Trains.

Got to Nuneaton station today at about 11am (after setting off at 9am), ready to catch the train at 1125 to Leicester.

When I got there I found out that train was cancelled.

"Not to worry" I though, there was one at 1153 which gave me enough time to get to the match before kickoff.

That was until it got delayed, and eventually turned up at 1225.

Got to Leicester with less that 10 minutes til kickoff and ended up just missing our goal :@

Did have a lovely run to the Walkers with two Wolves fans though (one of who was absolutely steaming).

On the way back I was meant to get the 1615 Central Trains service to Nuneaton, but it turns out that's totally been cancelled even though it's stil on the timetables online and at the stations, so I ended up missing my connection to Coventry and had to wait for an hour at Nuneaton.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :@ :@ :@ :@ :@

I feel your pain. I hardly use trains now,but for a few years i did alot and central trains are a nightmare. Always remember having to get buses from March all the way back to Ipswich. Took hours.

Wow that is a catalogue of bad luck you could only get with British Rail. Public transport in this country is pathetic, train services in the likes of Germany and France are so much better than here. It needs sorting promto. Thankfully I rarely have to use public transport, I get farmed around in the car by parents

My mate managed to get a refund for a cup of tea which he spilt when the the Virgin train he was on stopped suddenly, I have high hopes about my strongly worded letter.

Do you think they'll post the tea to you?

central trains are a disgrace there service is terrible, the trains are filthy and they are never on time!!!

I was on the train coming back to Grantham from Nottingham on Saturday and there was a Bury fan who had set off at 0830 in the morning to get down to Peterborough for the game and had been waiting since 12.00 on the train at Nottingham!!! and I got on at 1.30 they had decided to cancel his train even though he was on it!!!! and wait for the 1.30 and add them together!!!! it finally left at 2 meaning that this poor lad who should have arrived over 2hrs before kick off was going to miss the start of the match!!

It seems as though most of the problems seem to be experienced once Central trains 'go East'.

I believe that they are operating outside their comfort zones in these areas and are happiest when staying 'central'.

Maybe they should terminate when getting to Coventry and a new service, like Eastern Trains, be set up for conveyance beyond this point?

although the conductor when almost everyone on the train was moaning at him suggested that they had already got the new franchise for another SEVEN YEARS!!!! so good times might not be ahead...

I believe the anatomically correct description would now be "decorative lampshade".

Thanks for shining some light on that.

Central Trains must have learned something from Arriva. Different mode of transport, yes, but having waited at the bus stop for 10 minutes last night, we eventually found out that Arriva does not operate services to our part of the county after 18.49 on a Sunday.

Nice one.

I had to catch a train with my city shirt on, to derby from burton. I had a great experience of being stared at by well over 100 derby fans who had got off a train at the platform i was waiting for the train to Leicester at. Never felt so good by looking brave and giving them evils back. Got to leicester in time and decided to walk to the game topless.

When I'm not at Uni we don't get public transport on a Sunday.

Would you believe that:

a)he didn't fess up to it

and

b)no one cared?

It certainly came as a surprise to me.

I've taken to slowly cycling in the middle of the road now whenever a bus is behind me.

......

Yes I am very surprised by that; my mum always used to say that bus and lorry drivers were "Kings of the Road". She also thought Saddam Hussein was being picked on and that Hitler had his good points. Which I always found curious since one day circa 1941 she came home from work to find she didn't have one thanks to his Luftwaffe chappies ( map )

I think I have strayed off topic a bit ............her great grandfather was a clerk of works for the railway in Sheffield in 1881. ;)

Think yourselves lucky  I don't get any form of public transport round my way. No buses, plus if I want to catch a train somewhere I have to get a taxi (£7) or drive to Grantham station and park my car in the railway car park (£5) all day - that's before I get on a bleeding train!

Dont think trains are any better down here in London. I made the mistake of giving myself an hour for a 30 minute journey on my first day at a new job a few years back but my first day at work saw me being about an hour late. Not the perfect start for the key-holding manager of a store lol. It seems that if you have to rely on a train down here that you need to give yourself over an hour on top of the anticipated journey. At times I would end up at work so early it hurt and on other occasions I would be a little late. Im no longer at that job lol

Why this country cant get simple things like the running of trains sorted beggars belief. The locals are hoping that things change drastically leading up to the Olympics, like they did in Greece for the last Olympics BTW but that doesnt obviously help many people beyond the M25.
