Jay Posted 3 August 2005 Posted 3 August 2005 The Specials - Too Much Too YoungThe Specials - A Message to You Rudy 148472 The Specials were an awesome band, one of my favourites but as this should be about what you are listening to well I am listening to.... The Slackers Close my eyes, a more traditional ska sound from NYC

Deathside Posted 5 August 2005 Posted 5 August 2005 Over the last couple of days I've been listening to a whole bunch of Rudimentary Peni If you have never heard of Peni it is very difficult to know where to start In their early days (Early 1980s) they were closely involved with Crass and the whole Anarco-Punk scene - Their first full length album (Death Church is still immense today) - Death Church There was a long gap after Death Church (rumoured to be due to singer / guitarist Nick Blinko's incarceration in a mental institution) Eventually in 1989 we were treated to Cacophony A complete change in direction yet still unmistakedly Peni - An album based on the life and works of H P Lovecraft - This album is just plain mental - Cocaphony Surely Cocaphony was a pinacle - How the hell do you follow such an album? - Simple Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric - Written by Blinko whilst he was detained under section 3 of the 1983 Mental Health Act and dealing mostly with his dillusion that he was in fact Pope Adrian 37th - Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric If you've never heard Peni they really are worth checking out - Even if Punk ain't your thing - My recomendation would be The Horrors In The Museum from Cocaphony - Enjoy If TrickyTrev's CD swap idea comes to fruition I'll make sure I include some Peni

Matt Posted 7 August 2005 Posted 7 August 2005 Is that John Butler from Diesel park west? 151836 Not quite sure what your on about or asking but are you on about the John Butler Trio? I really got into this band whilst over in Australia at Christmas, The album is called "Sunrise Over Sea" just chilled out acoustic music really.
Head Honcho Posted 7 August 2005 Posted 7 August 2005 There's a top Leicester band called Diesel Park West (ex The Filberts),their lead singer is called John Butler. It's not him though just looked up the John Butler Trio. Check out DPW though they are very good, they used to be called The Filberts.
