We actually sit next to L1 and personal insults like that are completely different to opposition team baiting and you know it - why do people think this sort of behaviour is acceptable?

63462

Generally because those that indulge in it do not have the intellect to know what they are actually doing and just go along with the flow to fit in. Oh and the really thick one's do really think it is funny.

63465

Im really thick then. :)

If i can be really thick with 10 GCSE's thats fine. :)

63467

Intellect and GCSE passes are two completely different things! As is having a social conscience and respect for fellow human beings.

63470

I was replying to the last part he said.

Didnt mention the intellect part.

63471

One and the same thing surely!

Congrats on your 10 GCSE's oh thick one  I did use the word generally and perhaps you have an odd sense of humour Daniel rather than being so thick that you don't understand any of the implications of your actions.

So if someone calls us wankers its unfair to retaliate by making reference to them? So we should just sit there in silence and oh yes! we become the kop <_<

This has got out of hand.

Everyone goes to games for different reasons, as much as I love to watch and cheer on me team. I also love the atmosphere in L1 and the laugh we have. That women brought it on herself. She could of easily moved or kept quite be she kept reacting. Every 'Get your tits out' chant she would pull up her top, and would allways reply with 'you #### wankers', and patting her belly. Which was encouraging people to chant more. She was loving it.

The game was not the best of games yesterday, but I had a good day out. We had a laugh and there was some good witty chants.

How many games you go to, or how loudly you sing, or anything like that means nothing to wether you are a better fan than someone else. If you go to every game in a season and allways stand and sing, but an 80 year old man who is retiered and has no money and can barely afford to live, he can't walk eiher, but somehow manages to get to 1/2 the home games but doesn't sing, and has been a regular for 70 years. Who is the better fan?

Going to football means different things to different people, and people have differrent circumstances meaning they can or can't get to a game. Different people enjoy different things and we should accept that, and not argue it or critise it. Personaly I love the banter at football, I love the standing and the singing, I love the excitment and buzz of the game. I would hate to be sitting in the west stand sitting dow all game surrounded by people that to me seem boring, but for some this is the way they enjoy watching football and you have to accept it, and respct them. And most of all remember we are all City fans and pay the same entrance fee.

Rant over

at some point in all our lives we all must of abused someone verbally, if not then your whiter than white.

if you cant do this at a footy match, and no-body is getting hurt then whats the problem.

i didnt hear anything personally so it couldnt of been that bad anyway.

and to say that fat people wouldnt like people singing about them why dont they lose weight if it is that important to them??

im fat and it dont bother me if it did i would do something about it.

I agree with Dan & True Blue about this - having a laugh is something that a proportion of people go down to the WS for - if it wasn't meant to be fun no one would go would they?

Where did you sit Will? Did you hear anyone shout 'Is that your fecking pension' when he was waving the money?

Usually row Y but yesterday one of my mates didn't go so I occupied his mates seat.

3rd from back right next to barrier. I was in glasses and adidas coat.

Yep heard the pension, and to add to the debate their fans liked the insults (fed up of the word banter), our fans liked it, even the stewards like it.

Just wait till forest.

Why would I be looking at you when there was such a stunner in the away end!

Ive seen the photo gallery bit and I recognise people from away games and L1 and the Tigers protest.

I had the no groundshare banner.

hahah the worlds gone proper mad, i admit that violence aint got much of a place at the football nowadays but to criticise people for having some banter with the opposition supportes? thats just ridiculous, its the football for fox sake...if you dont like it, dont come....

Not necessarily. She could have been upset and moved seats, effectively running away. Or she could have ignored it. Or she could turn around in the way she did. It doesn't mean she was enjoying having 50 or so young lads having a good old laugh at her expense.

Of course, if she was giving the home fans stick about our team, then she has singled herself out and is bound to get stick for it, but resorting to personal abuse instead of responding with a footballing argument does nothing to enhance our reputation as supporters.

Good effort lads. Thats part of football supporting. Having a laugh at the oppositions fans. Doesnt anyone ever remember the old kop. The abuse that came out of there towards the away supports was quality!

I wish I was as thick skinned as you. I am assuming that if the boot was on the other foot, you wouldn't be offended or upset? After all, that's why we all go to the footy, isn't it? To be subjected to personal abuse?

63900

You do?

Why?

All you've shown is one man who is capable of taking abuse, as he comes back for more, week in, week out. Does he get the same level of stick? Is is an incessant barrage as described by yourself and others?

How do you know this woman you've picked on behaves like you've said? This might be a one off case for her, and she normally sits there and says nothing. Unless, of course, you know better.

Just to try to clarify the matter, the Oxford English dictionary defines banter and abuse as follows: -

banter

  • noun the good-humoured exchange of teasing remarks.

  • verb engage in banter.

abuse

  • verb /byooz/ 1 use improperly or to excess. 2 treat with cruelty or violence, especially assault sexually. 3 speak to in an insulting and offensive way.

  • noun /byooss/ 1 the improper use of something. 2 cruel and violent treatment, especially sexual assault. 3 insulting and offensive language.
