Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 He did that one ^ on Thursday night near Mount Pleasant sorting office. I went to see it on Sunday afternoon.
James. Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 I got his book for Christmas. Bit ironic him producing a book for mass consumption. Doubt he really gives a f**k though. Quote on the back cover makes me smile: "There's no way you're going to get a quote from us to use on your book cover"Metropolitan Police spokesperson
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 May 2007 Author Posted 22 May 2007 You got any near you JTB? I saw about ten on Sunday walking down Farringdon Road.
James. Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 You got any near you JTB? I saw about ten on Sunday walking down Farringdon Road. Not that I know of (my area is not quite Banksy territory really, bit too green and nice - for London that is). I think I've seen a couple round Shoreditch way and when I used to live in Hackney. Although it's always hard to tell whether they're real or just copycat ones.
stez Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 there was a story in the mercury a couple of weeks ago where the manager of the dry dock pub thought that banksy had been in there and tagged the place, i don't know if it was proven to be him in the end though. his work looks fantastic though.
Daggers Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 He had one of his pieces removed recently...and in Bristol you got a free house if you bought one of his works ~ until it got vandalised. I wub Banksy
Joe. Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Well I can honestly say I've never heard of him before but looking at his website I'm very impressed. Fantastic artist And he's made a good whack out of it too, Angelina Jolie payed £196,000 for a piece if his artwork
Daggers Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 You can buy it from a mere £6.81 from Amazon at the mo' Well worth it

Daggers Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 I may just buy that actually, looks quite interesting **** me! I should apply to go on the Apprentice with sales skills like this. Hang on a minute...I already have
James. Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 I may just buy that actually, looks quite interesting As mentioned earlier in the thread I've got this book. It's quality but without looking at his website I'm not sure what extra value you get out of it as it is mainly just his art (i.e. little in the way of wordage). Some amusing passages though including stuff like how long each piece took and how long it was before it was removed.

There's masses more to the book than the website...it's quality...why not buy one for your relations and get a spare one for y'self while you're at it in case something got spilt on it? Goddamn I'm good
Leicfox Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Aint he that clown who never reveals hinself, as the old bill would be all over him ?? Good artist though.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 May 2007 Author Posted 22 May 2007 I would buy it but I read the whole thing cover-to-cover on Sunday morning so probably not a hell of a lot of point really. Might ask for it for my birthday though. By the way - me and my mate came up with a great idea for Dragons' Den the other day. PORTABLE DEODORANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (like, credit card sized)

Just out of interest, around how long does his art work take?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 May 2007 Author Posted 22 May 2007 Just out of interest, around how long does his art work take? Stencils them out before he takes it out on the streets. Then it's just a case of spraying round the stencil. Not long at all. He managed to keep a spoof Mona Lisa in The Louvre for something like 4 days, if memory serves.
The Reverend Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 His works ery interesting indeed. Its graffitti, but it is art. Iv seen lot before. I think its great.
