Lee Hendrie could be set for a move to Derby after his father made contact with the club.

Hendrie, who spent the majority of the season on loan at Stoke, is available on a free transfer after leaving Aston Villa, and is a target for a number of Championship clubs.

However, the midfielder has made no secret of his desire to stay in the Premiership and feels Derby would be a 'good option' after their Championship play-off final victory.

"My dad (Paul Hendrie) has always played a big role with my contracts and it will be the same again," he said.

"He spoke to Derby last Sunday and thinks there might be something there for me.

"Derby didn't want to make any decisions until after the play-off final. They have gone up to the Premiership, so that would be a good option.

"I would love to stay in the Premiership, although I am not saying I wouldn't drop down to the Championship if need be."

Hendrie insists his only concern is securing a long-term deal at the right club, and says money does not come into his decision.

"Football comes before money and always has in my career. Other people get on with the contract side of things.

"It's vital I get this contract right. It's a big one for me and might be my last.

"I'd like a three-year deal. Nobody is paying for me. I am going from Villa on a free transfer and I will just be walking in somewhere."

Coventry City have confirmed they are in talks to sign Cambridge United striker Robbie Simpson.

Whilst the Conference player will be out of contract in the summer, being 22 years of age he cannot move for a free transfer and Coventry have attempted to agree a suitable fee with Cambridge.

No deal looks to be forthcoming at present though, so Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie is ready to take the matter to a tribunal.

"We made an offer to Cambridge United and there is some distance between the two clubs with regard to the valuation of Robbie," Dowie told the club's official website.

"It therefore looks set to go to tribunal and we are hopeful of a positive outcome."

Simpson is currently studying for a sports science and mathematics degree at Loughborough.

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson wants to sign midfielder Jason Koumas from his former club West Brom

Ahahahaha. What sort of idiot would Koumas have to be to go back and play for Robson again!?

Hendrie wouldnt be any great loss, it'd be good to have him but i wouldnt be too upset if we missed out... that said i cant really see Davies going for him.

Not being funny but where would you all go given the chance and assuming you weren't Leicester fans?.

I do wonder if we could have done something before the play-offs but as it stands the deal sounds as if it'll be done and dusted before our boss gets back from his holiday.
