surrifox Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Strauss fails again. Done nothing for 2 years- time to give someone else a go whilst he rediscovers lost form at County level
Flynny Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Strauss fails again. Done nothing for 2 years- time to give someone else a go whilst he rediscovers lost form at County level You could be right - though "two years" is a bit harsh. But who else to try?
David O'Leary Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 strauss has had an amazing start to his career its just been a dip in form since the start of the ashes he just looks worse with the amount of cricket he has played ( the ashes, cb series, world cup, county matches and now the windies tour)
Flynny Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Uh oh, a duck in the 2nd innings. I guess any of Tresco, Key, Bopara or Joyce could come in.
Ultra Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Tresco isn't ready to come back yet. There's no evidence the others will do any better as openers at Test level. Perhaps it might be better to move Vaughan to opener, and slot in another batsman (Solanki? Ramprakash?) lower down the order. Strauss is shattered and needs a break, certainly before the India series.
Micky Ruddle Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Corey Collymore Missed a simple catching chance. Feel sorry for him KP, Ali Cook in bat Poor fielding for WI. 126-2

Strauss is shattered and needs a break, certainly before the India series. I agree Trescothick might not be ready, but if we clinch the series there's no harm in asking. It'd be nice to ease him back in a low pressure game with the series decided. If he doesn't play next test, I don't see him playing again until next summer, if ever, really. India will be a stern test and isn't the time to re-introduce him, and I don't see him touring in the winter, either. Bopara could come in at 6 with Bell promoted to opener. That's probably how I'd go. His bowling is slightly more penetrative that Colly's, too.
David O'Leary Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 i think that ramps should come into the squad he has had two quality seasons with surrey even though he struggled during his international career he can still do a job
Ultra Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Darren Sammy's just taken three England wickets in an over! Just as well we have a lead of over 400..
Joe. Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Did anybody see Pietersen's wicket earlier? Very unfortunate... His helmet came off as he tried to get out the way of the ball and hit the wicket...
Micky Ruddle Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 Did anybody see Pietersen's wicket earlier? Very unfortunate...His helmet came off as he tried to get out the way of the ball and hit the wicket... That was unfortunate. Credit to Windies, they fought back very well, but the total they are chasing will be highly unlike;y they will get that. 2-0 England.
Ultra Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 Close of play score 301-5. They're close enough to the target to talk about making it. If they do, Vaughan and the rest of the team deserve to be taken out and shot!

Ultra Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 The scoreline suggests otherwise.. He had an excellent opening spell this morning, but lapsed a bit later on in the day. If he fires on all cylinders first thing tomorrow, we should wrap this innings up in half an hour. Chanderpaul apart, the remaining Windies batsmen are p!ss-poor.
Wilkesy Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 All i can say is Scottish Cricket is the future. Yer maybe, give it about 100 years though
Nationwider Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 The more perverse side of me would like to see the Windies win this by 1 wicket. The Turbanator should settle it by lunch though. Class act, that MP.
Matt Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 I hate to bet against the team i'm supporting or supposed to be supporting but i've gotta say I have £2 on the Windies @ 8/1. When they reached 250 I checked the odds and it was 10/1 then when the reached 281ish I thought this is gonna be a close finished so though fuk it i'll have a couple of quid on it when I went back to put the bet on the odds had dropped to 8/1, I checked the odds a couple of minutes later and they were 10/3, So I got in just in time to be worth betting on it.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 Uh oh, a duck in the 2nd innings. I guess any of Tresco, Key, Bopara or Joyce could come in. none of them could do it, Tresco simply isn't ready to do it mentally. Key has failed before on many occasions. Bopara isn't good enough and isn't an opener anyway. Joyce is a middle order batsmen.
Wilkesy Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 391 - 9 Harmison strikes twice in the 2nd over after lunch. England on the brink of series win
Simi Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Well done boys, fair play to Chanderpaul though. Indeed. Harmison finishes with 95-4
Ultra Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Still very hit-and-miss, though. Despite Chanderpaul's heroics, there's no way this Windies side should have been able to post nearly 400 on a wearing pitch. I notice Hoggard has replaced Plunkett in the side for the next test, and Strauss has retained his place. Let's hope the team regain some form before the India series.

You can move the order around, you know.
