foxes-are-blue Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 I think that it is a good thing that Milan is on board but only for the simple reason that it keeps us where we were in comparision with the rest. If we think back eight months when Milan was first mooted the number of clubs with money was four or five, seven at most. Now at lest half the premiership are owned or are about to be owned by billionaires. Therefore in the overall scheme of things we are as competitive now as a year ago.
DB11 Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Yeah, there are always some pessimists. I could also add, MM doesn't, hasn't and has said he won't, spend as much money as these other rich chairmen
Fatbloke Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 And Milan has been there seen it and won promotion, he`s a football man and he has forgoten more about the game than all the big money men will ever know, that, for me, gives us a bit of an edge !

mancunianfox Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 MM has good football contacts too though and he knows what he is doing. Not only that but a lot of these takeovers are vanity projects to successful businessmen rather than football guys. I mean Liverpool don't seem to have more money to spend under George Gillet do they? At least Mandaric loves the game.
Sly Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Clubs are being purchased becuase they are able to make money via the TV rights etc. It also gives the money men something of a hobby. Its becoming a rich mans game where they can all try to outdo each other. What happens when they all start to pull the plug out of it though?
Daggers Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 What happens when they all start to pull the plug out of it though? Why would they?
Sly Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Why would they? Maybe they wan't to buy a hockey team instead.
The Stig Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 I look at it like this, before Milan came, there was little / no hope of us getting promoted in the next 5 years, now theres a strong chance we will get promoted in the next 3 years. Can't be a bad thing!
