Fat Kids

Obesity has been a factor in at least 20 child protection cases in the last year, the BBC has learned.

Some doctors now believe in extreme cases overfeeding a young child should be seen as a form of abuse or neglect.

Puberty before 10 years old, 30% of pediatricians say they have Under-1's that are technically obese, adult onset diabetes, inability to exercise, kids with high blood pressure...

Personally, I think the parents of obese kids should be punished.

I'm listening to people phoning into 5Live and saying "...but parents need supporting" and "...we need to improve education programs"

Come on! How thick do you have to be to put your kid through years of hell, (if not a lifetime)? :dunno:

Of course its the parents fault.

At the end of the day, they fed them.

And if they are obese they eother dont feed them correctly, or feed them too much etc... in which case it is their fault.

Theres no excuses for it.

The trouble is it's become so acceptable to be fat under the guise of not 'abusing' fat people, like most things in life it's swung too far the other way.

Some of the fat adults I've seen recently would have been ashamed to show themselves in public when I were a kid, now fat is carried with a degree of pride c/w I'm just being my natural self, I'm happy being fat etc.

It's therefore no surprise that the eventual outcome of this is fat children.

I think I underfeed my nipper. She's always wanting food and is skinny as a rake - that or she has worms :(

I agree that people with fat kids should be made responsible. It is just bad parenting, simple as.

Both myself and the Mrs are a bit over weight, but my kids are both slim - This is achieved by:

Feeding them good food, with lots of variety (no processed stuff).

Encouraging them to play outside alot.

Bike rides.

No tv in their room. In fact restricting the amount of TV they watch, period.

Oh, and if the school wasn't so far away, they'd bloody walk to school too.

It isn't bloody rocket science, it's common sense and takes a bit of effort. But that seems to be beyond alot of parents these days.

"Not abusing fat people"? What are you on about man? Have you not read all of MP's/Fez's/TPH's posts mocking my man-curves? I think Mods should do something to Stop the Mockery :yesyes:

I ban ours from beer during the week and only allow them one Margarita with their evening meal.

I've also found that fags make an excellent appetite suppressant.

You should market this as the new fad diet.

You'd make a boatload.

Though what you'd do with a boat I don't really know.

I tried.

I approached the BBC with my idea for "Cooking with Fags" but they said they were already making a similar series with Graham Norton.

That shouldn't be funny...but it is.
