Ultra Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Anyone seeking info/a reminder of the glory days under MON should check out highlights of the 1997 3-3 draw with Arsenal (on at 5.30 pm) That night we fielded one of the strongest line-ups in our history, which was good enough to compete with the gooners even though Dennis Bergkamp had one of the games of his life. But those who cling to the myth that Filbo was always a cauldron of noise should be prepared to have their illusions dispelled. And the Premier League's iron grip of the footage means there is no reference whatsoever to the famous ruck between Walshy and Ian Wright at the end of the match!
James. Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Best Leicester game I've ever been to. Absolutely legendary. Think it was voted one of the best Premiership games of all time as well a few years ago.
Cat Burger Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 I saw it last night, so I assume anyone who misses it won't have to wait long.

Looking forward to that, should bring the memmories of the good times flooding back, must mention though I don't recall anyone saying Filbo was always a cauldron of noise, and I stand by my statement that the atmosphere at the Walkers doesn't come close (yet)

Ultra Posted 15 June 2007 Author Posted 15 June 2007 same here. I can still remember it like it was yesterday, they were class nights at Filbert Street. Unfortunately City will never have nights like that again at the Walkers. We live in hope that we will..

But we should compare like with like. If we were ever to reach the top 10 of the Premiership again, which would mean winning regularly in front of crowds of around 30k, the atmosphere at the Way would be every bit as good as it ever was at our old home.
Ultra Posted 15 June 2007 Author Posted 15 June 2007 what time does it start tonight? 5.30, as I said.

Wycombe Fox Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 I was on holiday in Normandy when this game was played. Radio 2 was a bit sketchy to say the least and my youngest lad had been born only a couple of weeks earlier. Mrs. Isle of Wight Fox wasn't too pleased when I decided to drive off in search of better reception for the car radio. Ah well...bless her!

lookwhaticando Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 Think it was voted one of the best Premiership games of all time as well a few years ago. Aye. It was. There was a special series covering the 10th anniversary of the premiership, and they showed the highlights of the top ten (most exciting) Premiership games up to that point... Leicester 3 - 3 Arsenal was in that group of games.
mat_j101 Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 beatin spurs last year was as good I agree, i thought the atmosphere when we played spurs was pretty good. But watching that game really brought back memories. Made me wanna cry compared to where we are now, although i really do believe Milan will have us back to a decent Prem side again. Come on, do the business. If he does, i actually think the atmosphere at the Walkers will be better than it ever was at Filbo, because with the two really small stands there the sound wasnt kept in as well, but it will be at the Walkers.
David Villa Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 i actually think the atmosphere at the Walkers will be better than it ever was at Filbo That will never happen, the atmosphere at the walkers will never get better than what it used to at Filbo. R.I.P Filbert Street
