I agree, he is a douchebag, probably for the sopping greasy hole of braindead trailer trash Britney Spears.

I was really hoping someone with a clue would jump on the stage and punch the cheesy **** out right there on the stage infront of his soggy fart of an audience :protest:

I know people who would think that was the original version and say how great it was.

Not my kind of music (big band sound) and Paul Anka has been doing that sort of stuff since the fifties I believe.

Here's the BBC review of this "Rock Swings" Album...

Whats going on here? An OAP recording a Billy Idol cover with a big band! Surely nofinancial inducementcan be worth such abject loss of dignity.

Paul Anka first topped the Billboard Singles Chart half a century ago with "Diana" (1957). He was never in the same league as Eddie Cochran or Buddy Holly, but went on to becomea consistentperformer who scored hits well into the sixties.

His first come back came in 1974 - a duet with Odia Coates titled "(You're) Having My Baby". Cloying and cheesy like a bag of sweaty Wotsits, the track revitalised Paul's career; a career in which he has (so far) produced a terrifying 124 albums.

Basically, Rock Swings shows that you can take any old 'rock' track and rearrange it into an unrecognisable slab of schmaltz. "Eye of the Tiger" - for sheer audacity -is a high point of sorts, "Wonderwall" is almost listenable, but "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is an insult to the sensibilities. It's not funny. It's not post-modern. It's crap.

Anka wrote the WORDS for 'My Way' not the song. I'll grant him some credit for that, but to take such an important piece of music as Smells like teen spirit and turn it into middle class middle aged pap this man deserves a hiding

The most disgusting cover version I have ever heard..

:frusty:

What! Worse than the awful Mark Ronson covers currently being played to death?

..............or are they ok because technically(whats the difference) they are remixes?
