Let's hope we don't do a forest

STANLEY skipper Peter Cavanagh is relishing the chance to take on Championship side Leicester City tonight.

The Reds got off to a flier at Wycombe on Saturday with a 1-0 win, thanks to a Paul Mullin goal, and John Coleman's side go into the Carling Cup first round tie against the Foxes full of confidence.

And after shocking Nottingham Forest at this stage of the competition last season, Cavanagh insists he and his team-mates are hoping for a bit more giant-killing.

He said: "In recent years, we've done really well at home so we're going into this game with a lot of excitement and with no pressure.

"The league is our bread and butter but it's always nice to have a run in the cups.

"It's always good to test yourselves against teams from a higher division. It gives us a chance to gauge where we are in terms of our own progress.

"Our players enjoy these game because the majority of people won't expect us to win.

"But if we can match them at the defensive end of the field, we know we have the players at the attacking end of the pitch to cause them problems."

Last season against Forest, Mullin got the only goal of the game, via a Danny Cullip deflection, in front of a decent 2,500 crowd at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

And Cavanagh is hoping the crowds turn out and see lightning strike again.

"Midweek Cup games are always special," he said.

"With the lights on and with the game being in the evening, hopefully we'll have a few more on."
